Job Overview

The Department of Internal Medicine, Division of Pulmonary, Critical Care and Sleep Medicine is currently recruiting a full time Research Assistant to work the lab of Dr. Satish Madala. This individual will assist with the coordination of laboratory projects or research studies in a particular discipline, and make independent contributions to projects and studies based on professional training or functional experience.

Essential Functions

• Perform experiments and records data according to research protocols.
• Interpret data and assist in judging validity of data. May perform statistical and graphical analysis of data.

Required Education

• Bachelor’s Degree.
• Five (5) years of relevant work experience and/or other specialized training can be used in lieu of education requirement.

Required Experience

Additional related work experience may be required depending on field or discipline.

Additional Qualifications Considered

• Knowledge in R and/or Python, experience in Linux environments, cloud computing systems, and the development of statistical methods and algorithms.
• Proficiency in building and maintaining large scale bioinformatics analysis pipelines for NGS data, and statistical programming languages.
• Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
• Understanding of best practices for rigorous and reproducible analysis and methods development.
