Job Overview

The College of Medicine, Hoxworth Blood Center is recruiting a Cell Therapy Technologist 2 in the Cell Therapy department. This position will support the University's mission and commitment to excellence and diversity in our students, faculty, staff, and all our activities.

The Cell Therapy Technologist 2 will perform cell processing operations and innovative cell selection techniques for the production of novel cellular therapy products for clinical trial use. Participate in laboratory operations that support clinical cell processing; maintaining supply inventories, perform equipment validations and quality control test procedures.

Essential Functions
  • Train and review lower level cell therapy technologist’s work in specific areas of demonstrated competence.
  • Demonstrate understanding of more complex cell processing principles and techniques
  • Responsible for successfully completing and documenting assigned clinical cell processing tasks in a timely manner with a near-zero error rate.
  • Provide clear and succinct technical explanations of results.
  • Work independently on specific projects.
  • Interact with clinical site customers and schedules procedures as needed.
  • Suggest improvements to current methods and provides input regarding evaluation of new methodologies and techniques.
  • Perform quality control and proficiency testing.
  • Comply with cGTP and cGMP regulatory requirements.
  • Perform moderate complexity mathematical calculations.
  • Write and revise SOPs and forms.
  • Assist in validation of new equipment and procedures.
  • Interpret Quality Control test data.
  • Recognize deviations from expected results and take appropriate actions.
  • Communicate effectively with clinical site personnel and other internal and external customers.
Required Education

Bachelor's degree in a Life Science.

Required Experience
  • Three (3) years of work experience in a clinical laboratory setting or relevant biomedical research laboratory setting.
  • Possess essential computer skills, such as Word, Excel and Outlook.
Additional Qualifications Considered

Associate’s degree in a Life Science and five (5) years of work experience in a clinical laboratory setting or relevant biomedical research laboratory setting.
