Job OverviewThe Program of Computer Science within the College of Engineering and Applied Science (CEAS) at the University of Cincinnati (UC) invites applications for one non-tenure track position as a Professor Educator or Professor of Practice of Computer Science to support its educational mission. Rank will be determined based on credentials.

Essential Functions
    Teaching selected Computer Science undergraduate courses to CEAS students at UC and in China. All courses will be taught in English and will include, but not be limited to the following courses: Introduction to Computer Science, Intro to Programming: C++, Python Programming, Other Programming Languages, Introduction to Computer Systems, Data Structures, Network and Cloud Computing, Probability and Statistics.It is required for this position to teach one semester (about four months) per academic year in person at a collaborative Chinese university, including but not limited to the Joint Co-op Institute (JCI) at Chongqing University (CQU) in Chongqing, China. JCI is a joint venture between UC and Chongqing University in Chongqing, China.Course preparation and curriculum development.Delivering lectures and instructing laboratories.Holding office hours, grading, and preparing assessment materials.Participation in service activities and duties assigned by Department Head as needed, such as membership in committees and interaction with the Electrical Engineering and Computer Science External Advisory Board. The Professor of Practice duties include teaching six undergraduate courses over two semesters related in the area of Computer Science. The Professor Educator duties are identical to those of the Professor of Practice, except duties also include teaching classes at the graduate level.
Minimum Requirements

Professor of Practice minimum qualifications:

  • Prior to effective date of the appointment, an MS degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related field and must have at least five (5) years of experience in industry-based Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related field.
  • Selected candidate will be required to obtain immigration documents for entry/work eligibility into China.

Professor Educator minimum qualifications:

  • Prior to effective date of the appointment, a PhD degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related field
  • Selected candidate will be required to obtain immigration documents for entry/work eligibility into China.
Appointment DetailsInitial appointment is up to three years and may be renewed. It is required for this position to teach one semester (about 4 months) per academic year at a collaborative Chinese university, including but not limited to the Joint Co-op Institute (JCI) at Chongqing University (CQU) in Chongqing, China. JCI is a joint venture between UC and Chongqing University in Chongqing, China. Anticipated work load is three courses per semester.
