Description
The Interim Program Director, Center for Community Engagement has a focus on the development of ethical citizenship and fulfilling the civic mission of the College and the Center for Community Engagement (CCE). The Interim Program Director provides strategic leadership and operational oversight for the CCE's multi-faceted efforts to engage students locally, nationally, and internationally. Provide particular focus on developing and sustaining (a.) a culture of student civic learning and participation and (b.) educational, collaborative partnerships that strengthen communities and contribute to the public good. The Program Director also contributes to the development of community-connected teaching, learning, and research, engaging students, faculty, and community-based organizations.

This is a term limited appointment. The appointment dates are August 15, 2022 through June 30, 2023.
This is considered a full time salaried, benefits eligible position. The salary range for the position is $58,900- $73,600 per year.
Requirements
Essential Functions:
	•	Works closely and collaboratively with CCE's Leadership Team, including the Interim Director, Assistant Directors, Projects for Peace Program Director, Privilege & Poverty Academic Director, to advance CCE's mission and vision—and with the Experiential Learning Centers leadership team to advance the broader divisional mission and vision—all within the context of overall institutional goals.
	•	Provides strategic and hands-on leadership and direction for the community engagement program using best practice standards to promote intercultural understanding and foster inclusivity, with particular focus on community service, community partner development, democracy initiatives, Community Engagement Organizations management (including corresponding oversight of $140K budget), and student leadership/active citizen development.
	•	Supervises the Assistant Director, Youth & Educational Partnerships, responsible for youth and mentoring programs and related agency and K-12 partnerships.
	•	Manage risk management related to CCE programs and initiatives.
	•	Manage overall CCE data and assessment protocols and procedures. Work with staff to measure, evaluate, and assess programs, goals, and impact and oversee implementation and use of various software systems (e.g., Presence). Develop corresponding reports.
	•	Instruct at least one CCE-sponsored course per academic year.
	•	Coordinate and manage the Project Assistant program to provide trained student staff that support faculty instructing community connected project based learning courses.
	•	Manage and advise the Community Engagement Organizations, the alternative break program, and select student service organizations, and partner with Student Activities to oversee the community engagement Orientation programs.
	•	Develop and present CCE workshops and presentations to internal and external audiences.
	•	Design, implement, and support Community Engagement Orientation initiatives in partnership with the Student Activities Office to introduce new students to the Addison County community and civic opportunities across the College.
	•	Coordinate and support the hiring, management, and learning experiences of 35+ student employees supervised by the Center for Community Engagement.
	•	Cultivate campus-wide relationships, off-campus networks, and external constituencies to strengthen connections among students, alumni, and community partners.
	•	Develop and support faculty partnerships, in- and out-of-class, that connect with and relate to community engagement initiatives.
	•	Administer the annual, expendable, Cross Cultural Community Engagement and endowed CCE Mini Grant programs, including student application recruitment, budget oversight, and reporting. Work with CCE Program Administrator regarding application processing and follow up.
	•	Advise colleagues in ELC and beyond with regard to best practices for international service, risk management, reflection, and assessment, as needed.
General Responsibilities:
	•	As a member of the CCE and ELC leadership teams, contribute to the development of Center-wide and ELC-wide strategic and operational planning.
	•	Perform other related duties as needed.

Qualifications
Education:
Education: Master's degree in Higher Education Administration or other related field, or 5 or more years related experience.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
	•	As this individual will interact with a diverse range of the faculty, staff, students, alumni, community partners, and community members, the following qualifications are required:
	•	Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, professionalism, and ability to work with diverse populations.
	•	Able to work effectively both independently and as a team player.
	•	Demonstrated familiarity and deep understanding of best practices, trends and cycles with regard to undergraduate civic engagement and/or engaged and experiential learning programs.
	•	Deep understanding of the elite liberal arts, residential, education model, the context of Student Life, and the corresponding challenges and opportunities to community engagement work.
	•	Excellent rapport and passion to work with undergraduate students.
	•	Proven organizational and budget management skills with attention to detail and the ability to work on and coordinate several projects at once.
	•	Ability to lead and motivate others, while also maintaining confidentiality, as appropriate.
	•	Appropriate technical and communication skills.
	•	Adaptability and flexibility.
	•	Valid driver's license, required; own transportation.
Experience:
	•	Experience in the field of community engagement, with issues of social justice, and understanding of cultural competency, particularly in a higher education environment.
	•	Candidates who are familiar with both the College and Addison County, most desirable.

Basic office physical demands. Note: Office is currently on the second floor.
