Overall Description of Responsibility or Nature of Work
This NIH-funded position reports directly to Dr. Black in the Pharmacology Department, and will work to develop a research project aligned with the overall goals of the team. Responsibilities include designing and performing experiments, analyzing data, contributing to the writing of grants and manuscripts, and aiding in oversight of more junior team members.
Areas of Responsibility / Scope of Research
The Black lab is seeking postdoctoral fellows. We employ an integrated approach including functional genomics, mechanistic studies, and animal research to make biological discoveries with translational potential. Our current work is focused on understanding how DNA re-replication is regulated during development and stress and misregulated in disease states. Our studies have the potential to uncover the origins of extrachromosomal DNA and eccDNA, and provide insight into the evolution of genome structure. Our goal is to leverage these studies to identify novel therapeutic targets for the treatment of disease.
Salary and Benefits:
The salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established at . 54,840.00-55,632.00
The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.
- Graduation from an accredited college or university with a PhD in one of these (or related) fields of study: Molecular Biology, Genome Biology, Cellular Biology, Cancer Biology, Bioinformatics, Cell and Developmental Biology, Immunology, Microbiology.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience performing and analyzing DNA Fluorescent In Situ Hybridization
- Experience with common laboratory molecular biology techniques
- Experience with common laboratory cellular biology techniques including use of siRNA and CRISPR/Cas9
- Experience with techniques for analysis of chromatin states and DNA replication including ChIP-seq, CUT&RUN, CUT&Tag, RNA-seq
- Experience with bioinformatics analysis of genomics data
- Experience with statistical analysis software and analysis within the R environment
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Proven ability to work independently and within a team in a research lab
- Proven ability to independently develop and progress a research project
