Nature of Work:

The University of Colorado College of Nursing is seeking a Certified Nurse-Midwife (CNM) / Instructor/ Senior Instructor / Assistant Professor (Open Rank) in the Non-Tenure Clinical Practice Track for a part-time (0.75 FTE) benefits-eligible position with its CU Center for Midwifery (CFM) faculty practice in Lone Tree, Colorado. This is a full scope position including antepartum, intrapartum, postpartum, well woman and gynecological care. This position is clinically-based as a health care provider, and includes an instructor level, non-tenure clinical practice track appointment within the College of Nursing. Faculty Practice Description:

The CU Center for Midwifery at Lone Tree is a private practice model that works collaboratively with the OB/GYN physicians on staff. We offer patients and families many services including individualized care, alternative labor/birth options, with referrals to childbirth education, lactation services, and provider groups within the system and community. The practice provides full-scope midwifery care to patients at the UCHealth Lone Tree Health Center and UCHealth Highlands Ranch Hospital. CFM believes that people benefit from personalized and comprehensive care that focuses on the patient while including the family in the plan of care. The CNM will be part of a midwifery service that has a long and successful history within the University of Colorado system. The practice actively participates in practice development, practice promotion and interdisciplinary committees within the UCHealth system. The CU Center for Midwifery at Lone Tree currently consists of 3 CNMs. This fourth position may be eligible to move to a 1.0 FTE as practice volume increases.

Supervision Received:

Work is performed independently under the direct supervision of the CFM Lone Tree APN Clinical Lead.

Supervision Exercised:

Student supervision is required during clinical placements.

Examples of Work Performed:
    Provide full scope care to the gynecologic, antepartum, intrapartum, and postpartum client Provide care in the outpatient clinic, triage unit, and intrapartum unit Utilize limited obstetric ultrasound skills in the outpatient and inpatient setting Attend monthly practice meetings and participate in a minimum of 1 practice and/or College of Nursing committees. Educate health care team students (APNs, medical students, residents) and actively participate in student evaluations. Provide water birth option to low risk women Participate in practice development, promotion and community outreach. Active participation in health plan contracts. Remain credentialed by the health plans and ensure credentialing materials stay current. Performs other duties as assigned.

Work Schedule:
  • Three shifts per week
  • A shift is either a 24-hour call that can be taken from home, or clinic day

Salary and Benefits:

The salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established at:
  • $85,000 - $93,000 annually at Instructor of Clinical Practice/CNM
  • $88,000 - $96,000 at Sr. Instructor of Clinical Practice /CNM
  • $90,000 - $105,000 at Assistant Professor of Clinical Practice /CNM

The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training.

Conditions of Employment:
    Must be willing and able to obtain current AMCB CNM certification by date of hire.
  • Must be willing and able to provide full scope contraceptive services and counseling on abortion services.
  • Must be willing and able to obtain Colorado RN, APN, RxN licenses by date of hire.
  • Must be willing and able to obtain current DEA license within 18 months of hire.
  • Must be willing and able to obtain valid NPI number by date of hire
  • Must be willing and able to obtain valid Colorado Medicaid Provider number by date of hire
  • Must be willing and able to complete CAQH and all credentialing requirements prior to by date of hire.
  • Must be willing and able to obtain current BLS/CPR certification by date of hire.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Current, active DEA licensure
  • Experience in alternative labor/birth options
  • Experience as Surgical First Assistant for C-sections
