This is a full-time (1.0 FTE) 12-month professional exempt position and coordinates the implementation of the program review cycle and strategic plan framework within the Division of Student Affairs, while advancing the ongoing development of a culture of evidence in Student Affairs. Through consultation, training, and relationship-building, the position works to ensure data are collected, analyzed, reported, and used to guide continuous improvement of divisional programs, services, and facilities. The Assessment Specialist collaborates with individual unit directors in conducting a cyclical comprehensive program review process that includes the following steps: Self-study, Internal Review, External Review, and Strategic Plan. This position also oversees the operationalization of the Student Affairs Strategic Plan--facilitating the strategic planning steering committee, mapping out action steps, metrics, and outcomes that align with divisional priorities, providing recommendations to the Student Affairs Assessment co-leads and divisional leadership on progress and modifications, and ensuring alignment with campus and system-level focus areas. In addition, the successful candidate will play a key role in accreditation efforts, while supporting the Senior Executive Director of Student Life & Assessment with administrative duties.

Job Duties:

The duties and responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to:

  • Coordinate all aspects of the implementation of a comprehensive Student Affairs assessment program to include but not limited to the program review cycle, divisional strategic plan framework, and Higher Learning Commission accreditation initiatives for the purpose of continuous improvements and in accordance with quality standards and accreditation requirements.

  • Facilitate the divisional strategic plan steering committee, mapping out action steps, metrics, and outcomes that align with divisional priorities and university strategic focus areas, while planning and implementing a routine one-year, divisional strategic plan model.

  • Provide recommendations to the Student Affairs Assessment co-leads and divisional leadership on progress and modifications of the strategic plan, while ensuring alignment with campus and system priorities.

  • Orchestrate the department level program review cycle, spearheading the self-study, internal review, external review, and strategic plan processes.

  • Maintain Student Affairs Assessment website and data repository.

  • Serve as an assessment specialist by training and coaching staff and learners on the appropriate implementation and use of assessment tools and resources.

  • Initiate and maintain a visually appealing, dashboard method of highlighting a variety of assessment and data reports.

  • Provide administrative support to the Senior Executive Director of Student Life & Assessment with the following duties: manage daily and long-range calendars to include independent decision-making regarding the coordination and scheduling of meetings, special events, space, technology, travel, etc., preparing meeting agendas, taking detailed minutes, monitoring and chronicling progress toward goals and outcomes, and following up on action items. Additionally, coordinate the external review process. Other duties assigned as needed.

  • Conduct work groups, organize multiple projects simultaneously, and meet goals of the strategic plan; work well under pressure; write with technical expertise; communicate and present to various audiences; provide resources; monitor assessment processes; collaborate with others; collect, analyze, and interpret data; train others on complex processes.

  • Plan and implement an annual, divisional assessment showcase event that features the ongoing progress and success of the program review and strategic plan processes while also serving as a professional development opportunity for staff to expand their assessment knowledge and competency.

  • Work Location: On-site; flexible start location options may be considered within the first several weeks of the initial start date.

    This position has been determined to be exempt from the overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA).

    What We Offer:

    Salary Range: Generally starting at $42,648 - $50,030

    The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training.

    Qualifications
    Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.

  • Two years of experience that includes data collection, data analysis, and preparing reports that document findings.

  • Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in student affairs, education, communication, or related field from an accredited college or university

  • Assessment experience

  • Training and development experience

  • Experience working with faculty, staff, and students in higher education

  • Knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office, Excel, and PeopleSoft

  • Marketing experience

  • Social media experience

  • Physical Requirements:

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit. Employee is periodically required to move; handle, reach, stand, finger and feel. Tasks may involve using a computer screen continuously for long periods of time.
