Manager of Training, Development, and Assessment

Job Summary
This position is primarily responsible for four main roles: 1) Developing and implementing CRLA aligned training for tutors and peer academic mentors 2) Developing and maintaining academic support programs for students, which includes stewardship of the LC partnership with the Western eTutoring Consortium 3) Coordinating the Wildcat Academic Mentoring program and its integration with UNIV 101/102 4) Developing and implementing assessment initiatives for the Learning Commons. This position will work with other LC program managers to ensure delivery of tutoring and academic resources, both in-person and online, to students at all CWU locations. This position provides ongoing support to improve student retention, progression, and completion. Work Assignment
Work is accomplished at the Ellensburg location with emails, phone or Teams conferences, and periodic travel to University Centers to consult with Center staff and faculty.
Working toward the common goals of the Learning Commons, the incumbent will independently plan and organize work assignments and functions. Incumbent will have oversight for making programmatic decisions and for leading day-to-day operations. Projects and specific tasks may be assigned by the supervisor either verbally or in writing. Work is reviewed periodically to ensure department goals are being met.

Required Qualifications
• Bachelor’s Degree
• Demonstrated ability and/or experience working with people from a wide range of abilities, backgrounds, and experiences.
• Demonstrated experience creating and providing training
• Demonstrated experience gathering data and conducting assessment to inform decision making
• OR applicable combination of education and/or experience which demonstrates the ability to perform the essential functions of the position

Preferred Qualifications
• Master’s degree in education, counseling, or related field
• Supervisory experience
• Experience tutoring/academic coaching/advising/counseling in an educational setting, working with programs addressing the needs of special populations such as neotraditional and underrepresented students and students with disabilities
• Experience creating innovative and responsive programming to support development and achievement

Working Conditions
Work is performed in an indoor office setting with frequent in-person interactions. It is essential to be able to remain at a desk/computer workstation for prolonged periods of time, perform extensive data entry and other computer-related tasks and create/maintain filing systems for departmental records. Regular working hours are from 8am to 5pm M-F. Travel to centers across the state is part of the position. There will be occasional weekend work required, usually no more than once per quarter.
Training, Development, and Programming
• Develops and delivers trainings for LC staff and tutors to facilitate professional development in best practices
• Prepares and administrates the all-tutor training schedule, required sessions, and tutor team building activities
• Creates and oversees academic workshops on campus and online
• Works with faculty at University Centers, University Housing professionals, and other LC staff and students to develop content-specific workshops and other support structures for students
• Leads LC team in pursuing certification standards for all LC staff and Center
• Participates actively in new student orientations (in Ellensburg and at the Centers) and other scheduled events to represent the LC
• Creates and manages study skills resources on the LC website; ensures resources are timely and relevant
Supervision
• Assists in recruiting, hiring, and training Academic Mentors
• Schedules and monitors Academic Mentors shifts
• Coordinates and supports the development of the Academic Mentor program (Wildcat Academic Mentoring)
• Provides direct supervision of graduate and undergraduate mentors
• Oversees the ongoing support of the Western eTutoring Consortium, including uploading and managing student accounts, troubleshooting user solutions, communication with student users, and serving as liaison between CWU and WeTC
• Conducts observations of tutoring and mentoring, providing feedback to the respective managers
• Recognizes and rewards student employees for good performance
• Demonstrates and encourages diverse perspectives, creativity, and teamwork
Assessment
• Uses assessment measures that align with CRLA, CAS. and NCLCA advanced certification standards to inform decisions and make recommendations for program improvement
• Maintains ongoing data collection, reporting, and assessment of CWU partnership with the Western eTutoring Consortium
• Develops, promotes, implements, and conducts ongoing assessment of and data collection for the Wildcat Academic Mentoring program
• Creates, implements, and interprets qualitative assessments to inform decisions and make recommendations to the Director
• Supports and assesses outreach and marketing efforts on behalf of the LC to the university community, including online and at the Centers
• Assists in creating ongoing reports to measure outreach and marketing, LC program effectiveness, inform practice, and improve LC services
• Provides assessment, summaries, and goals to include in the annual report
