Reporting to the Surgery Research Administrator exciting part- time career opportunity for a Licensed Practical Nurse to work on clinical trials involving investigational drugs and devices in the Department of Surgery, Lewis Katz School of Medicine, in the divisions of Abdominal Organ Transplant, Bariatric Surgery, Cardiovascular Surgery, Colorectal Surgery, Surgical Oncology, Plastic/ Reconstructive Surgery and Trauma/Burn Surgery.

Essential Functions:

The Clinical Research Coordinator/LPN will be responsible for coordinating study enrollment, establishing or maintaining databases of subjects, protocol treatment and follow-up care for subjects participating in clinical trials. He/She will collaborate with primary nursing staff to provide nursing care to patients receiving therapy on a clinical research trial. The Clinical Research Coordinator/LPN will assist the principal investigator in the process of assuring adequate informed consent. The Clinical Research Coordinator/LPN will assure that the Clinical Trial study Protocol is followed by all study staff. In collaboration with the nursing staff, the Clinical Research Coordinator/LPN will assess subjects on study for complications related to therapy/treatment. The Clinical Research Coordinator/LPN will communicate observations/findings to attending physicians, investigators and in medical records as required.  The Clinical Research Coordinator/LPN will communicate routinely with sponsoring organizations and conduct monitoring visits in collaboration with sponsoring trial organizations.  The Clinical Research Coordinator/LPN will maintain study protocols, updates, amendments and communicate these to, and as required by, the Institutional Review Board (IRB).

Required Education & Experience:
Graduate of an Accredited LPN School with current Pennsylvania State Licensure and at least 5 years of clinical experience working and caring for patients.  Research experience would be helpful but not necessary.  An Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Required skills and abilities
* Excellent Organizational Skills with the ability to prioritize and complete detailed assignments in a timely manner.
*Ability to work with and adapt to new technology
* Excellent customer service skills that allows for effective interaction with study participants, patients, students, faculty and staff.
* Skilled in computer programs such as Microsoft Word, Outlook, and   Power Point Excel.
* Experience with electronic health records
*Able to work 2-10 pm Monday to Friday with flexibility to work some weekends.
*Able to work 24 hours/week with flexibility to work more hours some weeks.
