The University of Maryland, Baltimore, Office of Administration & Finance is currently recruiting for a Specialist, Communications and Public Relations Senior - Administration and Finance.   • Develop communication information strategies that meet divisional goals and that communicates the value added from the collective units that comprise Administration and Finance.
  • Research, organize, format, write, edit, and proofread information materials to print and online communication formats, to include newsletters, social media sites, and e-newsletters. Distribute materials with the goal of contributing to image development of Administration and Finance. Maintains printed inventory, databases, and digital archives. Researches, writes, edits, and organizes information materials.
  • Oversee and actively participate in creating, maintaining, and updating division websites with appropriate content via partnerships internal and external to Administration and Finance.
  • Create and maintain presence for the Office of the Senior Vice President through various social media outlets, such as LinkedIn, Facebook, etc.
  • Develop and implement communication’s daily operation strategies for the division. Identify department needs and communicate strategies to develop specific project strategies. Define outcomes and deadlines. Ensure operation effectiveness with communications functions to specifications to ensure outcomes are met.
  • Employ strong writing skills in preparing communication from the Office of the Senior Vice President, inclusive of presentations, division-wide announcements, talking points, etc. Develop, write, and communicate key messages for A&F programs and initiatives across the division to ensure timely and consistent messaging throughout various social media.
  • Generates story ideas for submission to the Office of Communication and Public Affairs for broader campus-wide dissemination. Cultivate strong relationships across A&F units in order to ascertain story ideas.
  • Stay up-to-date on relevant topics and issues in order to position University of Maryland, Baltimore A&F in stories and trends as they occur.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s degree in related field, such as English, communications, or journalism. Experience: Three (3) years of related experience in communications, writing and editing documents required. Experience with social media or website content maintenance and/or development strongly preferred. Supervisory Experience: N/A Certification/Licensure: N/A Other: N/A Knowledge, Skills, Abilities: Knowledge of position requirements. Knowledge of all applicable requirements, regulations, and laws. Skill in effective use of applicable technology/systems. Ability to effectively communicate both verbal and written thoughts, ideas, and facts. Ability to work cooperatively with others and independently.
