Job Summary

The Manager provides supervisory and technical support for the Campus Network and Multimedia Support Services department. This is a Professional Exempt Contractual (PEC) position for which an annual contract reflecting the base salary within the fiscal year (July 1st to June 30th) will be issued after ratification by Miami Dade College’s District Board of Trustees.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Manages several operations within the department that include but are not limited to multimedia installations and maintenance, video and graphic production, classroom support, special event setup and operation, and maintenance and management of servers, computing resources, network security, disaster recovery, and property ventral
  • Plans and manages the day-to-day operations of classroom, laboratory, auditorium, and conference room presentations of multimedia support materials
  • Prioritizes trouble tickets and creates timelines for media projects including time for user feedback and touch ups
  • Develops and improves operational policies and procedures as agreed upon by Collage-wide the Media and Network Directors workgroup
  • Researches, continuously learning about emerging and obsolete technology
  • Provides cost effective technology solutions to users to meet their needs within College standards
  • Purchases equipment, hardware, and software as needed in accordance with budgetary constraints
  • Provides recommendations on hardware and software to support student learning and administrative efficiency while adhering to College standards
  • Installs and maintains a reliable operation of servers and related computing resources, to include network security, backup of servers, disaster recovery, documentation of resources, optimization of server performance and reliability
  • Repairs, tones, configures and upgrades network operating systems, and application systems on network workstations and servers
  • Coordinates installation/upgrade projects through the phases of conceptualization, design, and implementation
  • Coordinates graphic and video production projects through the phases of conceptualization, design, and implementation
  • Hires, trains, manages, and evaluates employees
  • Performs other duties as assigned
Minimum Requirements
  • Master’s degree in an appropriate field and two (2) years of experience in networking and/or enterprise level computing, with at least one 1 year experience maintaining network servers and supervising technical staff; or Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate field and six (6) years experience in networking and/or enterprise level computing, with at least one 1 year experience maintaining network servers and supervising technical staff
  • All degrees must be from a regionally accredited institution
  • Knowledge of media equipment and video/graphic editing/production
  • Knowledge of selecting, installing, and operating microphones, mixers, matrixes, amplifiers, switchers, digital projectors, projection screens, photography backgrounds, video conference and video recording equipment
  • Knowledge of sound reinforcement standards, practices, and equipment
  • Knowledge of current video and graphic production software and equipment
  • Knowledge of visualization technologies, Windows Active Directory, group policies, and management tools; as well as, Linux, scripting tools, reporting tools, programming languages and relational database systems
  • Ability to lead and coordinate a team performing technical work; to include but not limited to, scheduling, assigning trouble tickets, training, and maintaining quality customer services in all areas of responsibilities
  • Ability to interpret and apply adequate solutions to student, faculty, staff, and administrators' needs
  • Ability to work in a multi-ethnic and multi-cultural environment with students, faculty and staff

Essential Position
  • This function/position has been designated as "critical". This means that it has job duties that affect the security, safety or physical operation of the College, and are required to work at the Emergency Operations Center and/or have access to the incident scene once normal campus operations have been suspended.
Additional Requirements
