Description of primary duties and responsibilities::Primary Purpose of the Organizational Unit:
The Office of Financial Aid is to provide financial assistance to students, who, without financial assistance, would be unable to begin of continue one’s college education. The primary purpose of the IT Business Systems Analyst I is to serve as a lead for the functional and technical implementation of Banner Financial Aid Module. In addition, this position will coordinate and collaborate with the office of the Registrar, Admissions, ITT, Institutional Research and Student Call Center to create a seamless delivery of student financial aid. This position is the data nerve of the Office Financial Aid in conjunction with importing and exporting files to the United States Department of Education. In addition to the functionality of the position. Technical and analytical skills are a must in developing, designing and/or support applications for the Office of Financial Aid.
Primary Purpose of the Position:
The IT Business Systems Analyst I serves as the technical and operational lead in the development, modification, maintenance and compliance of the Financial Aid policies and procedures. The IT Business Systems Analyst I manage the Banner financial aid module, US Department of Education systems, Appxtender imaging system, and any other 3rd party software utilized by the Office of Financial Aid & Scholarships. The IT Business Systems Analyst I will look for efficiencies through constant oversight of technical Business Processes as they relate to financial aid awarding, scholarship management. And office procedures. The IT Business Systems Analyst I will provide analysis and problem resolution for office staff, parents, and students, regarding Title IV information processing and Banner system issues. The Business Systems Analyst will monitor and analyze software upgrades from Ellucian Banner and perform testing for system upgrades (i.e. Banner, etc.) The IT Business Systems Analyst I will create and maintain procedural manuals for IT processes for the Office of Financial Aid & Scholarships.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Provides support to the Director, and Associate Director in all aspects of technical and systems programming, as well as analyzing, developing and implementing complex technical operations related to financial aid. Work with developers on new projects to complete requirements, test requirements through implementation to deploy clean release. This position is required to set up mass communications, financial aid censes and disbursements, creating and working exception reports, data validation, summer awarding and scholarship set up, assess, formulate, and evaluate technical functionality of the student information system (Banner) as well as automated processes in (Automic/UC4) to ensure compliance with federal and state regulations for financial aid. The position will participate in the testing of new or revised screens or functions in the Oracle (Banner) student information system. Responsible for financial aid analysis, quality assurance testing, and data analysis setup that must be completed annually with each financial aid analysis, this includes, but is not limited to, creating checklists, communications, and item types; verification setup; and packaging award setup for new year. Collaborates with Director in program audits and monitors implementation of appropriate actions to correct and deficiencies. Review audit reports from other institutions and guidance from the Department of Education to mitigate risks of non-compliance.
A Bachelor’s Degree in a discipline related to the area of assignment; or equivalent combination of training and experience.

Fayetteville State University (FSU) is a member of the prestigious University of North Carolina System. Situated in southeastern North Carolina, FSU prides itself in being in one of the most diverse cities in the country and neighbor to one of the nation’s largest military installations – Fort Bragg.
FSU has a rich history that serves as genesis for its current status as a leading institution of higher learning. A year after the Civil War ended, the Phillips School provided primary education to Fayetteville’s black citizens, and the Sumner School provided intermediate education for this population. The two schools were consolidated in 1869 and dedicated in April of that year as the Howard School, in honor of the Freedman’s Bureau chief General O.O. Howard. Seven prominent African-American men pooled $136 to purchase two lots for the first building that housed the Howard School. Robert Harris was named the first principal of the Howard School.
In 1877, the Howard School became not just the first public normal school for African Americans in North Carolina but also the first state-sponsored institution for the education of African-American teachers in the South. It was renamed the State Colored Normal School in Fayetteville that year, Fayetteville State Teachers College in 1939, Fayetteville State College in 1963, and Fayetteville State University in 1969.
While FSU’s roots are as a teacher education institution, it now offers nearly 70 degrees at the baccalaureate, masters and doctoral levels. Many of the programs are accredited by the top agencies. The university’s School of Business and Economics is endorsed by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB). AACSB is one of the most prestigious and rigorous accrediting bodies for business programs in higher education. Currently, less than one-third of U.S. business programs and only 15% of the world's business programs have earned AACSB accreditation. Receipt of this distinguished accreditation provides evidence that FSU’s School of Business and Economics has established itself as a leader among business schools. Additionally, the Master of Business Administration program has been cited by U.S. News and World Report and The Princeton Review as one of the best graduate business school programs in the country. The Department of Criminal Justice is accredited by the Academy of Criminal Justice Sciences (ACJS). FSU’s criminal justice program is the only such program in North Carolina to hold ACJS certification.
FSU is rapidly becoming a center for research and technology. In spring 2010, the university, in conjunction with the University of North Carolina at Pembroke, cut the ribbon on the Southeastern North Carolina Regional Microanalytical and Imaging Center. The center is home to the electron microprobe, an advanced imaging tool that magnifies objects up to 300,000 times.
FSU is a partner in the community. The institution has formulated a strong relationship with the local municipality and with civic and social organizations in the area. The institution enjoys its partnership with its military neighbors. In the coming years, as a result of Base Realignment
