SUMMARY PURPOSE OF POSITION:

The Coordinator of Student Support Services assures that Online and Continuing Education students have appropriate access to student services. Working with the Admissions team, assures that student admissions needs are met. Assists the Director and Assistant Director in providing services in partnership with the colleges for online and continuing education adult students. Coordinates activities related to success, retention and graduation efforts. Focuses on outreach and communication with new and returning students, prospective students and specific populations of online and continuing education students.

EXAMPLES OF PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Maintains all tracking sheets, fact sheets, academic plans and advising materials in consultation with Director, Assistant Director and academic departments.
  • Consults with Transfer Coordinator on issues pertaining to transfer course equivalencies for current and potential students.
  • Updates all student academic plans in coordination with academic departments as necessary.
  • Works with college administrators and faculty on general and specific advising needs.
  • Coordinates outreach events with OCE admissions counselor to potential transfer students.
  • Responds to inquiries in the admissions cycle when specific academic questions are requested.
  • Provides preliminary transfer credit reviews as part of admissions cycle.
  • Assists internal and external transfer students in understanding requirements and choosing appropriate academic path.
  • Assists in meeting with students in academic jeopardy to develop strategies for academic success.
  • Manages all follow-up activities for current OCE students coaching them to continue their enrollment at the University.
  • Oversees and participates in re-enrollment campaigns and advising outreach to students at periodic intervals during the academic year as determined by the Director of OCE Student Support Services.
  • Collaborates with our Registrar office to generate email and mailing lists of inactive students to target in retention campaigns through our CRM.
  • Assists in reviewing best practices to support online learners, adult students, and at-risk OCE students implementing plans to build and support student academic success and retention.
  • Supports the Assistant Director with research, design and coordinate implementation of projects such as Prior Learning experiences, transfer credit opportunities and outreach to community colleges.
  • Assists with reporting for data analysis.
  • Advises students enrolled in programs offered through OCE in collaboration with departmental advisors (reduced caseload).
  • Participates in local, regional and national conferences as well as various professional associations to keep abreast of current issues and to explore networking opportunities for OCE.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION: Master’s Degree

EXPERIENCE: Demonstrated (over three years) experience working in higher education support services

OTHER: Must be able to work morning, evening and/or weekend hours as needed during peak enrollment periods and special functions; travel to off-campus sites on occasion. Eligible for remote work options.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Excellent critical thinking and analytical skills. Excellent administration skills.
  • Experience advising online and adult learners.
  • Significant experience with diverse student populations.
  • Demonstrated experience developing programming for undergraduate populations.
