Job Summary:

We are currently seeking skilled and team-oriented applicants for the following position: Director – Career Services

The Director of the Eastern Washington University Career Center is responsible for providing leadership, oversight and management for the programs and services supporting career connected learning, employer outreach, alumni engagement and donor development. The Director for the EWU Career Center coordinates, manages and directs a team of career and internship advisers and outreach personnel responsible for coordinating campus-wide recruiting initiatives and events. As a leader in the Student Affairs Division, the Career Center Director is expected to maintain and encourage a professional, collaborative and solutions-oriented approach to student career development.

Required Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree OR Bachelor’s degree with five years of professional experience related to duties of this position
  • Minimum three years of experience in higher education
  • Effective organizational and management skills
  • Two years of supervisory experience of professional staff in a higher education context or equivalent
  • Ability to work in a variety of teams with people from varied backgrounds
  • Demonstrated budget and fundraising knowledge
  • Experience working effectively with marginalized populations, including first generation college students.
  • Effective written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills
  • Basic understanding of HR principles and employment law/policies
  • Candidate must demonstrate interest, ability and/or experience promoting cultural competency, universal accessibility, and/or diversity.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Five or more years of experience working in a university career center or similar environment
  • Knowledge of career development best practices such as NACE Career Competencies
  • Five plus years of experience supervising professional and student staff
  • Strategic planning, program development and management
  • Demonstrated fundraising experience
  • Effective public relations and marketing experience
  • Experience developing partnerships with employers and community agencies

  • Supervise, hire, train, evaluate and lead Career Center staff.
  • Oversee strategic delivery of Career Center programming, communication and partnerships.
  • Identify and establish staff development opportunities.

  • Develop protocols to manage the collection, assessment and reporting of career center data; ensure the compilation, analysis, distribution and publication of annual first destination reports on recent graduates and communicate this information to internal and external audiences.
