Job Details

Boston University’s College of Fine Arts School of Music invites applications for the position of Assistant Professor of Violin (non-tenure track). The successful candidate will have a substantial national and/or international performance profile and teaching experience in courses related to string performance. In addition, a successful applicant will enjoy working in a campus climate that promotes cultural diversity, equity, and inclusion. Terminal degree or demonstrated professional equivalent required; previous teaching at the collegiate level required.

The position requires string instruction at the highest level for students in the undergraduate (BM) and graduate string performance programs (MM, DMA) as well as the Performance Diploma and Artist Diploma (PD, AD). The successful candidate will show evidence of collegial and professional working relationships within string and orchestral realms and exhibit an aptitude for and interest in a variety of leadership opportunities with the School of Music.

Located on Commonwealth Avenue in Boston, the BU College of Fine Arts School of Music celebrates its 150th anniversary this year as America’s first music degree-granting institution. BU alumni are members of nearly every major symphony orchestra in the United States and are recognizable leaders throughout the world of music. Our alumni include composer Missy Mazzoli, opera singer Morris Robinson, music critic Anthony Tommasini, conductor Lina González-Granados, and music director Lan Shui. Today, the School of Music trains musicians, educators, composers, and scholars in both undergraduate and graduate programs. Each year the School produces hundreds of major public concerts, recitals, operas, and performances.
