Treasury Analyst

The Treasury Analyst is a member of the Department of Budget and Finance and supports the college's mission, strategic financial plan, and various operational plans to steward sound fiscal responsibility. The position will focus on three functions within Budget and Finance: 1.) treasury services, 2.) investment, and 3.) tax.  Immediate responsibilities will include cash management and assisting in daily transactional activities, reconciliations, and regulatory oversight in coordination with, and at the discretion of, the assistant vice president.

 

Responsibilities and Duties

 

  • Optimize and monitor operations daily liquidity and cash management, make sound financial investments for initiatives to support financial objectives, mitigate financial risks and maintain compliance. Coordinates the disbursement and reconciliation of federal, state, and institutional resources, including student financial aid and other organizational grant funding. Delegate for the Federal Grants and G5 portals. Gathers information and assists the assistant vice president to complete regular financial statements, including the cash position worksheet, monthly operating statements, forecasting dashboards and other tools to support college operations. Analyzes bank and investment statements. Assists with the collection of accounts receivable, provides guidance and support to accounts payable, and reconciles daily cash activities. Collaborates with Student Financial Services and Advancement Services for endowment contributions, distributions, reporting and other activities annually. Ensures that endowment distributions are achieving designation requests, undesignated applications, and auditing activities. Assist with asset appraisals, investment allocation analysis and return on investment. Establishes systems to measure required debt coverage ratios, financial indices and ratings, and other key financial metrics for regular reporting to the Cabinet and the Board of Trustees. Conduct internal audits and consulting for Student Financial Services, Advancement, Athletics, and other institutional or organizational financial activities. Collaborates with the assistant vice president on vendor (bank) relations, solutions and external financing. Assists the completion of the annual tax filings for William Jewell College, and all corporate and disregarded entities wholly owned by the College. Supports the assistant vice president and chief financial officer by occasionally attending administrative meetings, including Cabinet, Board of Trustee Committee Meetings, Faculty and Staff Council and other settings with fiscal responsibility agendas.

 

Requirements

 

  • Bachelor’s degree required in the fields of Accounting, Business, Finance, Economics or comparable discipline preferred. 2+ years Treasury or Financial Analyst experience preferred. Experience serving in higher education preferred. Mission focused and commitment to higher education required. Motivated and self-driven to succeed in a high energy environment. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Exceptional interpersonal skills, ability to build strong relationships and collaborate with others. Strong analytic ability, creativity, and organizational skills.

Working Conditions

  • Normal working/office hours and predictable attendance required.  Flexible work environment (multi-modal)
