Boston University’s College of Fine Arts School of Music invites applications for the position of Assistant Professor of Vocal Performance (non-tenure track). The successful candidate will possess a substantive performance profile at national and/or international levels, evidence of student/alumni success at the college level, and teaching experience in voice performance courses such as song literature, special topics, or vocal pedagogy. In addition, a successful applicant will enjoy working in a campus climate that promotes cultural diversity, equity, and inclusion. Terminal degree or demonstrated professional equivalent required; previous teaching at the college level required. This is a non-tenure track position.

The position requires vocal instruction of both male and female students in the undergraduate (BM) and graduate vocal performance programs (MM, DMA) as well as Departmental and Opera Institute Performance Diploma (PD).

Required Skills

Located on Commonwealth Avenue in Boston, the BU College of Fine Arts School of Music celebrates its 150th anniversary this year as America’s first music degree-granting institution. BU alumni are members of nearly every major symphony orchestra in the United States and are recognizable leaders throughout the world of music. Our alumni include composer Missy Mazzoli, opera singer Morris Robinson, music critic Anthony Tommasini, conductor Lina González-Granados, and music director Lan Shui. Today, the School of Music trains musicians, educators, composers, and scholars in both undergraduate and graduate programs. Each year the School produces hundreds of major public concerts, recitals, operas, and performances.
