Job Description

Missouri Online provides the academic technology and digital learning services for all students in all modalities systemwide. We provide an administrative structure for the delivery of more than 300+ fully online and hybrid degree and certificate programs by providing marketing services, program coordination, research, enrollment and learner analytics, instructional design, academic technology and distance education state authorization coordination. We work with colleagues from all four Universities to enhance educational experiences, advance technological services, and increase efficiencies while pursuing continuous collaboration between the four Universities.

The University of Missouri System consists of system administration and four universities: The University of Missouri-Columbia, the University of Missouri-Kansas City, the Missouri University of Science and Technology, the University of Missouri-St. Louis, and all of their component parts, including MU Health, MU Extension and UM Engagement.

To meet the needs of the state of Missouri and beyond, the UM System is seeking a collaborative and interactive Instructional Design Manager to assist in developing and maintaining high quality online programs and courses across the System. In this position, the Instructional Design Manager will be responsible for leading a team of instructional designers to partner with faculty in maintaining high quality standards in course design and development, along with collaborating across teams to develop and facilitate faculty development experiences.

Our Program and Course Design Services team is looking for an energetic leader who is eager to lead an instructional design team. Our vision is to be the experts at providing program and course support to each university in the system in order to provide a quality online education experience for all learners.

Responsibilities include:
Be a Leader:
Supervise and manage a team of highly skilled Instructional Designers and Project Managers Lead and direct available instructional design resources and development needs Provide advice, guidance, encouragement, and constructive feedback

Be a Collaborator:
Builds constructive working relationships characterized by a high level of acceptance, cooperation, and mutual respect. Develops, maintains and coordinates an electronically networked learning support environment. Oversees process completion of departmental activities, policies and procedures, providing guidance as necessary Impacts the quality, efficiency and effectiveness of own team and its contribution to the Educational Support function

Salary

$70,000 - $76,000

Grade: GGS 11

8AM-5PM. Monday - Friday

Minimum Qualifications

Master's degree in related/relevant area and at least 2 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary

Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree related to education, instructional design, or technical/business area
  • 5 years of professional experience supporting teaching and learning online
  • Background in training, instructional design and/or education leadership
  • Strong understanding of best practices in online teaching pedagogy
  • Ability to clearly communicate priorities to a team
  • 2-3 years of experience managing teams
  • Experience in a higher education institution
  • Experience developing high quality faculty development experiences
