Description:

Hofstra University seeks an experienced and proactive Talent Acquisition Manager to provide best-in-class HR partnership and services, with a focus on enhancing our full-cycle recruitment, on-boarding and retention functions. Reporting to the Chief Human Resources Officer, and working closely with the Associate Director, Employee and Labor Relations, the incumbent will work to develop the University’s talent acquisition strategy. As an HR change agent with a team-oriented approach to human resource service delivery, the Talent Acquisition Manager will spearhead initiatives to develop a positive employee and candidate experience and be a key point of contact to provide consultation, support, and execution of HR strategies.

Responsibilities include, but not limiited to:
• Performs full-cycle recruitment activities including conducting developing and editing job descriptions to highlight Hofstra as an employer of choice in today’s competitive talent market, creating recruitment and staffing plans, conducting interviews, and shepherding search committees and hiring managers through the search, job offer and on-boarding processes.
• Create digital sourcing tactics to identify passive and active applicants and encourage them to apply to general and hard-to-fill openings.
• Identifies and recommends digital sourcing strategies; develops marketing and outreach activities tailored to job requirements, which includes online job boards, social media, and public advertisements. Utilizes existing relationships and develops new ones with external constituents to attract new talent to fill current and future organizational hiring needs.
• Develops and maintains tracking systems to evaluate the status of each ongoing search and work to expedite the overall process. Creates metrics highlighting recruitment costs, time-to-fill, turnover and retention, and others to inform executive decision-making; recommends process improvements.
• Develops and delivers trainings on talent acquisition processes, recruiting practices, applicant assessments, interviewing and reference checking techniques, and ATS end-user activities. Assists with other departmental trainings geared towards fostering a talented and diverse workforce.
• Serves as primary service owner for the University ATS (PeopleAdmin) to include managing communications with candidates, creative screening and sourcing techniques, and job posting and job offer reviews and approvals. Performs regular employee data entry and analysis.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree required.
• Minimum of three (3) years of human resources, talent acquisition and interviewing experience.
• Ability to create and implement sourcing strategies for recruitment for a variety of roles.
• Proficient with applicant-tracking software or other recruitment systems.
• Proven ability to work within a fast-paced deadline driven environment.
• Professional integrity to work discreetly on sensitive assignments and manage confidential information.
• Customer-service oriented with strong interpersonal and cross-cultural communication and networking skills to appreciate the value of others and work effectively and collaboratively with diverse internal and external stakeholders.
• Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Proven knowledge of business process cycles and procedures related to human resources and/or talent acquisition processes.
• Detailed and dependable with effective organizational, time management and priority setting skills to manage multiple assignments and meet deadlines.
• Ability to interact and engage all levels of management/leadership.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint.

Preferred Qualifications:
• At least four years’ specialization in recruitment and talent acquisition management.
• Experience in a university, or mission-driven organization.
• Recruitment screening/interviewing, selection, advertising, marketing, and digital recruiting; experience with positions in higher education a plus.
• Sourcing resumes from a variety of sources and outreach activities, including social recruiting, networking, employment sites, college and professional job boards, LinkedIn Recruiter, and applicant tracking systems.
• Experience performing job classification analysis and writing job descriptions and job postings.
• Experience with PeopleAdmin ATS, Ellucian (Banner) plus knowledge of EEO compliance requirements.
• Experience training managers on effective recruiting, interviewing, and hiring practices.
