Job Description Summary

The Department of Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies at Wake Forest University invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor positions to begin July 1, 2023. We seek candidates with research and teaching interests in the field of Black Feminist Digital Studies. Within Black Feminist Digital Studies, we are particularly interested in scholars with research and teaching focus in Black ecologies, Black girl studies, environmental justice studies, and/or geography. We welcome applicants from various theoretical and methodological approaches with interests in publicly engaged scholarship and in diverse curricular and co-curricular social justice initiatives. Applicants must have a Ph.D. in Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies or in a relevant academic discipline in the humanities or social sciences by the time of appointment. Successful candidates will show promise for collaboration, strong and effective teaching, and sustained quality research with a commitment to enhancing scholarly relationships across campus and the community.

Job Description:

The successful candidates will teach 21 credit hours (typically as a 2-2-2-3 course load) over four semesters at all curricular levels. Successful candidates will teach multiple sections of a lower-level divisional course, "Perspectives in Gender and Sexuality.” Other courses may include internship seminars, advanced electives, and small first-year seminars.
