Position Summary: Provide advanced writing support and targeted academic support for all English Language Learners (ELL).
Primary Responsibilities:- Prepare written and verbal communication improvement strategies for all levels of English Language Learners (ELL)Assist students through the writing process by using guided questions to elicit critical thinking and clarity of writingWork with students in person and through online platforms Collaborate with faculty and staff to provide resources for multilingual studentsCoordinate, promote, and facilitate reading groups and specialized workshops Assist students in identifying their individual strengths and skills in order to make study plans, establish academic goals, and maximize the student's potentialParticipate in outreach activities and tutoring servicesAssist in the maintenance and evaluation of tutoring materials and servicesCollaborate as a team member of the Student Success Center (SSC)Perform other duties, responsibilities, or special projects as assigned
- Bachelor of Art required, Master's degree strongly preferred
- ESL or Teaching English to Speaker of Other Languages (TOESL) certificate or degree is strongly preferred
- Travel or study abroad is strongly preferred
- Demonstrated commitment to promoting inclusiveness and cultural competence; experience working with underrepresented students and students from at-risk backgrounds
- Experience and understanding of current issues and developments in higher education
- Outstanding verbal, writing, and presentation skills; must be able to communicate and interact effectively with Mount Mary students, employees, and alumnae
- Exceptional ability to multitask and prioritize projects
- Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills
