Job Details
The Department of Communication Studies calls students to engage communication meaningfully, creatively, ethically, and with intellectual curiosity, in order to enhance their personal and public lives, as well as contribute to a sustainable common good. The department recently redesigned our undergraduate program and offers the BA in communication studies, and we are seeking adjunct instructors who will build our expertise for our redesigned program.
Position Summary
Adjunct instructors are needed to teach a variety of communication studies courses across the 2022-2023 academic year. Instructors may be hired to teach one course or multiple courses.
Essential Functions
- Teaching classes, primarily in a fully in-person modality
- Grading student work
- Meeting with students during office hours and corresponding with students via e-mail
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Excellent teaching ability
Required Qualifications
- M.A. in communication studies or related field
- Experience teaching communication studies courses at the university level
Preferred Qualifications
- Ph.D. in communication studies

Course Rate
The pay rate for a 4-credit course will be $4,360.
The University of Denver has provided a compensation range that represents its good faith estimate of what the University may pay for the position at the time of posting. The University may ultimately pay more or less than the posted compensation range. The salary offered to the selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal salary equity considerations, and available market information, but not based on a candidates sex or any other protected status.
