The Library & Learning Commons at Marywood University is seeking a full-time Systems Librarian.  This is a 12-month position.  Anticipated start date for this position is October 1, 2022.

Requirements
Educational
A Master's of Library Science, or equivalent, from a graduate program accredited by the American Library Association is required.

An undergraduate or graduate degree in computer science is preferred.

Work Experience Requirements
Experience working with library systems is preferred.

Special Qualifications
The successful applicant will:

Understand and effectively communicate the law relevant to license agreements for electronic resources, including but not limited to copyright, fair use, resource sharing, and access
Have knowledge of the business practices, professional norms, and institutional rules relevant to the life cycle of electronic resources including the acquisition of, access to, and administration and technical support of these resources
Be conversant with the general principles of web design, electronic online portals, open and proprietary databases, information storage and retrieval systems, text mining, data visualization, data collection software, cloud computing, and cataloging and metadata standards and best practices
Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and professionalism necessary for maintaining positive working relationships
Essential Elements
The Systems Librarian reports to the University Librarian and is responsible for a wide range of duties that includes:

Working in collaboration with all library employees to acquire, organize, and ensure 24/7 access to electronic resources available on and off campus
Administering the electronic resources management system, library management system, automated storage and retrieval system, electronic A-Z list, discovery services, and related tools
Communicating complex information and creating detailed reports for library and university administration
Keeping track of changing trends, standards, and best practices relevant to library systems and electronic resources
Assisting the University Librarian in negotiating complex license agreements and other contracts on behalf of the University
Providing reference consultations at the Learning Commons front desk and via online chat
Providing library liaison support to assigned academic departments
Maintaining and coordinating electronic processing policies, procedures, and workflows
Serving on the Library Leadership Team with other library faculty, and supervising the cataloging assistant, automated technician and e-resource assistant, interlibrary loan assistant, and the part-time cataloging assistant
