Serves as administrative liaison between Naval Science Department faculty and staff, University College, visitors, and other campus Departments and offices.

Duties:

    Assists in arranging and hosting of departmental functions such as the Annual Alumni Reunion, Commissioning and other ceremonies. Maintains staff and student rosters, unit schedule and calendar. Drafts and edits all outgoing correspondence for the Department. Generates special reports, programs, and presentations as directed. Establishes and maintains tracking system for time-sensitive documents. Files and maintains all Naval and University orders, instructions, and directives and conducts periodic review to ensure accuracy of records. Serves as de facto Secretary of OU Naval Alumni League. Manages the NROTC alumni database, generates e-mailings and provides updates for Alumni Web Site, coordinates semi-annual meetings and the annual Alumni Reunion weekend. Manages UC Naval Science Department annual budget. Purchases and processes bills for department. Coordinates all usage of the Armory and associated classrooms for the University and school wide functions. Serves as assistant to the Recruiting Officer. Provides NROTC Program and University information to hundreds of prospective students and schedules introductory appointments for the Recruiting and Commanding Officers.Performs related duties as assigned to successfully fulfill the function of the position.


Job Location
Required Education: High School diploma or GED, and 

  • 12 months office, clerical or administrative support experience
Skills:

  • Working knowledge of office procedures
  • General office and customer service skills
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, and Word)
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as a team player
  • Ability to complete tasks in an efficient and timely manner
  • Must be detail oriented for accuracy of data and information
  • Ability to multitask, be organized, and self-motivated
  • Ability to work in stressful situations
  • Ability to communicate verbally and in writing
Preferences:

  • Familiarity with the Military
  • Basic understanding of the ROTC organization
Advertised Physical Requirements:

  • Physical:  Sit for prolonged periods, communicate effectively and listens, engage in repetitive motion, use of computer and telephone, stand, stoop, bend, and reach.
  • Environmental:  Standard office environment.
