Description:

The Gaylord College of Journalism and Mass Communication at the University of Oklahoma seeks outstanding candidates for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Digital Video Storytelling and Production, beginning Fall 2023, to join an award-winning program in Creative Media Production.

The strategic plan for Creative Media Production stresses a combination of skill sets tied to both legacy media forms—narrative, documentary, corporate—and more cutting-edge media applications, such as mobile, interactive, and online storytelling.

The candidate's research or creative work may include, but would not be limited to, innovative media content with a specific eye on digital storytelling platforms.

The position will help prepare students in both skills and conceptual learning. This year the Broadcast Education Association ranked Gaylord College students #1 in Film and Video Production based on works juried over the last five years. Our vision and our curriculum in the college are grounded in the effort to nurture storytellers.

The candidate would also have opportunities to teach at the graduate level and mentor students through master's theses or projects and Ph.D. dissertations, if qualified.

The Gaylord College is one of the leading centers of media teaching and scholarship in the United States. The College has state-of-the-art facilities in Gaylord Hall. New faculty will take an active part in the growth of the College through superior teaching, innovative curriculum development, and notable research or creative activity.  They will join a highly engaged Creative Media Production faculty that includes coursework in narrative, documentary, streaming, podcasting, and client-based production in audio, video, 360, and digital forms. The College offers the BA, MA, and Ph.D. in journalism, advertising, public relations, creative media production, and professional writing, as well as a master’s (MPW) degree in professional writing.
