Postdoctoral Research Associate

The University of Tennessee is pleased to announce an opening for a postdoctoral research associate to help advance understanding of topological quantum materials. The applicant must be well versed in materials growth and characterization though standard laboratory techniques such as magnetic susceptibility, heat capacity, electrical transport, and x-ray diffraction. Experience performing neutron diffraction measurements to determine magnetic structures and inelastic neutron scattering measurements to determine spin-spin interactions is highly desirable. Strong hands-on skills and knowledge to build and operate experimental apparatus, especially electrical transport measurement systems, cryostats, and spectroscopy optics, are also desirable.



Qualifications
The applicant must have a Ph.D. in Materials Science, Physics, or a related field.  The ideal candidate will have experience in quantum materials research and a demonstrated track record in publishing. Excellent written and oral communication skills are required. The candidate will be advised by David Mandrus at the University of Tennessee at Knoxville.
