MINIMUM PAY RATE:$52,618 annually

POSITION SUMMARY
The Coordinator of Employer Relations is responsible for the development and coordination of strong working relationships with area employers to promote mentoring, internship and employment opportunities for students, alumni, and community members. Supports strategic activities designed to engage and advise students and alumni on appropriate career paths in order to prepare them for employment and assist them with job search skills. Provide support and mentoring for Career Advisors and Career Pathway coaches supporting the Guided Academic Pathway model of academic intent declaration for college success. Collaborates with faculty and staff; supports the continuous and strategic improvement of department services that effectively meet the current and future career needs of students and college alumni. Assist the Director with communicating the mission of the Career Services Center to students, faculty, alumni, and staff. Function as a back up to the Director in her/his absence.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Develop and maintain ongoing relationships with local employers and organizations. Match employers’ needs to academic departments’ needs and stream-line a process to connect employers with JJC programs, students, alumni and community members.
2. Establish new, and strengthen current, employer relationships and visibility in the business and education communities through outreach activities such as networking events and site visits.
3. Supervise and assign responsibilities to the Employment Advisor and Student Employment Specialist
4. Facilitate and manage employer visits to campus and provide leadership and coordination for career/job fairs.
5. Create and execute a strategy for identifying and recruiting students and alumni for internships and employment opportunities.
6. Serve as primary business/industry liaison in the facilitation of recruitment processes, activities, and events.
7. Serve as primary college liaison for academic departments and businesses in the facilitation of services and cooperative programming.
8. Partner with academic departments to strengthen communication with and between employers, students, and faculty to identify and promote internships and work opportunities.
9. Participate in the creation, planning and implementation of innovative programs and presentations to meet students’ changing career needs.
10. Oversee processes and policies for internships in compliance with Department of Labor, Illinois Community College Board, NACE, and Fair Labor Standards Act policies.
11. Assist with the promotion of Career Services Center services and the electronic job posting system to students, alumni, faculty and employers through a variety of marketing efforts.
12. Advise students with job seeking skills including resume and cover letter writing, and interviewing. .
13. Participate in achieving departmental and college goals and objectives; lead day-to-day operations of the office in the absence of the Director.
14. Perform related duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
1. Bachelor’s degree in Public Administration, Psychology, Education, Business, Human Resources, or related field.
2. Three (3) years of experience in job development, human resources, internship program administration, student employment administration, career counseling or related area.
3. Excellent presentation, interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
4. Knowledge of employment laws and ethical employer hiring practices.
5. Experience in planning and managing events and programs, including coordination with colleagues, and tracking and reporting on progress.
6. Strong organizational skills and ability to direct multi-dimensional activities simultaneously.
7. Problem solving skills, excellent organizational skills, detail-oriented, a self-starter, and ability to work effectively with students, faculty, and administrative staff.
8. Strong personal computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office suite.
9. Ability to establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with other members of the college and community, displaying cultural competence as well as emotional intelligence.
10. Demonstrated commitment to the college’s core values of respect and inclusion, sustainability, integrity, collaboration, humor and well-being, innovation and quality.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATION
1. Master’s degree in Higher Education Administration, Counseling, Student Development, Business, or related field.
2. Recent work experience in higher education including direct contact with faculty, businesses, and traditional age, adult, and culturally diverse students.
3. Three (3) years of experience in Career Services, workforce development or related area.
4. Administrative or supervisory experience.
5. Knowledge of college student development practices.
6. Awareness of effective assessment practices.
7. Familiar with use of social media platforms (i.e. Facebook, LinkedIn and Twitter) to support the promotion, marketing and communication of services and programs.
8. English and Spanish verbal and written communication proficiency.
9. Demonstrated multicultural competence.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
1. Normal office physical demands.
2. Ability to travel between campus locations and to and from community events.

WORKING CONDITIONS
1. Duties are performed indoors in the usual office and/or outdoor environment.
