Counselor

Coastal Carolina University is currently accepting applications for a Counselor in the department of Counseling Services. This is a full-time, 12-month position with benefits.

Duties will include, but are not limited to: provides individual/couples/group counseling to students who are experiencing psychological, developmental, career, and educational concerns; provides outreach and consultative services to university students, faculty, and staff; develops liaisons with various campus groups and acts as an advocate for underserved populations such as ethnic minorities (such as African-American, Latino, Asian-American, Native-American) LGBTQIA+ students, veterans, students with spectrum disorders, physical disabilities, learning disorders, and international students, and other students from myriad cultures and socio-economic backgrounds; documents all clinical services including applicable case notes, assessments, interviews, and any referrals to coordinate care; provides psychological assessment such as mental health assessments, adaptive behavior assessments, personality assessments, Interpretation of psychological tests to students who are experiencing psychological, developmental, career, and educational concerns; provides on call daily crisis intervention to students who are experiencing psychological, developmental, career, and educational concerns on a rotation basis, both during business hours and after hours; and performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements: A master’s degree in Counseling, Social Work or closely related field is required. Must be eligible to become in process for licensing or licensed in SC to practice as a LPCA, LPC, MSW, LMSW or currently licensed in South Carolina in a field directly related to counseling and mental health. Two (2) years of related experience, a demonstrated record of successful performance in and commitment to the practice of counseling with both individuals and groups is preferred. A strong skill set, demonstrated experience serving marginalized populations and experience in a university counseling setting is preferred.

Human Services Coordinator II (GA60/61122882/FTE-S00661P), full-time position with benefits. SC State Pay Band: 06. Salary range: $43,030.00 to $79,616.00. Normal work hours are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Must be flexible to meet the special scheduling needs of the university. Some evenings and weekends and periodic on-call responsibilities. This is a 12-month position.

Required Qualifications:

Masters degree in Counseling, Social Work or closely related field.

Preferred Qualifications:

Two (2) years of related experience preferred. Demonstrated record of successful performance in and commitment to the practice of counseling with both individuals and groups. Strong skill set and demonstrated experience serving marginalized populations. Experience in university counseling setting.
