Duties/Responsibilities:

Under the guidance of the Principal Investigator, the postdoctoral research associate will perform laboratory, greenhouse, and field-based research on the mitigation of important mycotoxins including aflatoxin and fumonisin through the use of genomics, biotechnology, plant breeding, and the application of molecular biology and “omics” techniques to investigating plant-pathogen interactions. The successful candidate is needed to perform independent research, contribute to project discussions and directions, contribute to graduate student mentoring, collaborate with internal and external groups for ongoing and new research projects, assist in securing extramural funding, analyze and interpret research findings, and to submit research findings for publication in peer-reviewed scientific journals.

Relevant/Preferred Education, Experience, Licensure, Certification in Position:

A Ph.D. in Plant Pathology, Plant Biology, Plant Breeding, Plant Biotechnology, Molecular Biology, Microbiology, or related program. Applicants are also needed to be able to work in outdoor field and greenhouse conditions. Experience with molecular biology and microbiology is required. Experience with bioinformatics is preferred, but not required.
