WBURs Business Partnerships team is seeking a highly creative Sales Manager for its Enterprise Group. The Enterprise Group focuses on the partnerships that deliver on key brand goals while leveraging multi-platform editorial and custom initiatives across our audio, digital, and event offerings. The Business Partnerships team is responsible for securing sponsorship and funding for editorial initiatives across all of WBURs platforms, including our local and national broadcasts, podcasts and on-demand audio, digital display and newsletters, live events, and custom content. The ideal candidate is smart, ambitious, and naturally curious, has previous experience managing sales reps, conceiving of and developing cross-platform partnerships and sponsorships - especially within the podcast, event, and digital spaces - and a conviction that high-quality, independent journalism is fundamentally important. The Sales Manager, Enterprise will be an integral part of the Business Partnerships team and reports directly to the Executive Director, Business Partnerships. Remote, US candidates will be considered for this role. Our office location is Boston. Boston University holds the WBUR station license.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage the Enterprise Account Executives through day to day oversight of their work and revenue generation while also leveraging network to build new relationships with key decision makers at senior levels at clients across multiple lines of business.
  • Work with the team to expand our podcast and live event sponsorship revenue and grow existing single platform tactical partnerships into creative, cross-platform ones that leverage multiple WBUR touchpoints.
  • Partner with the Sales Manager, Core Business to lead the joint Sales team and ensure processes and sponsorship opportunities are industry leading and set us above our broader competitive sets.
  • Work across teams and departments with the Marketing Manager to develop and deliver winning, cross-platform programs and proposals that lead to lasting and successful underwriting and sponsorship partnerships with a focus on integrated selling.
  • Leverage deep knowledge and understanding of the marketplace, categories, media and advertising business (both non-commercial and commercial media), and trends to guide the design and development of custom partnership solutions that drive revenue growth.
  • Break new business & renew and expand current and past client partnerships using data and insights from current or past campaigns.
  • Lead account conversations with key internal partners to evaluate account performance, develop short and long-term strategies and discuss/act upon optimization opportunities.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to building an inclusive roster of partners and solutions and engaging diverse viewpoints to meet the needs of both our partners and our audience.
  • In partnership with the Sales Manager, Core Business, lead the team in uncovering more local and diverse organizations across the Boston region and beyond to expand the circle of our partners to include a more inclusive roster of business partners.
Required Skills
  • Minimum 5-7 years experience in media sales management with at least 10 years in the industry all with a successful track record selling smart and creative solutions that transcend traditional sponsorship.
  • Strong relationships on both client side and agency side.
  • Ability to be proactive, take ownership, and work independently.
  • Impeccable communication and relationship-management skills, across both internal and external constituencies.
  • Strong project management and leadership skills as well as exceptional proposal writing and presentation skills.
  • Experience building and selling cross-platform (broadcast, podcast, event, digital, social, etc.) partnerships to align with sponsor goals
  • Clear understanding of live event and podcast media and how they're sold is a must.
