Job Description:

The Department of Large Animal Clinical Sciences, College of Veterinary Medicine, University of Florida invites applications for a clinical-track, full-time faculty position at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor in Comparative Theriogenology (Reproduction). Principal duties and responsibilities will include providing in-house and ambulatory clinical service for the Reproduction Service of the large animal and small animal hospitals. Predominant species seen in our hospitals include, but are not limited to, equine, small ruminants, and canine. Instruction of veterinary students and theriogenology residents is a significant component of the position. The individual will share after-hours duty with the faculty members in the service. Participation in veterinary didactic teaching, seminars, and rounds is also required. The appointee is expected to be involved in professional outreach, committee service, and curriculum development. Opportunities for independent or collaborative research activities exist. Overall expectations are to make significant contributions to enhance the quality of the college programs in teaching, research, and clinical service. Opportunities exist for candidates with skills in assisted reproductive technologies in equine and canine species.

The UF Veterinary Hospitals are a major referral center in the area of central Florida and beyond, which offer a wide range of expertise in many specialties, including theriogenology. The Small and Large Animal hospitals have state of the art facilities and equipment, which are constantly upgraded. The small animal case load in our hospital, including the satellite practice in Ocala, is now the second highest in the nation among academic hospitals, and continues to grow. Florida is the third largest state in terms of horse population with a nearly $12 billion economic impact. Located in the heart of heart of horse country, unique opportunities exist to serve industry clientele with close proximity to the World Equestrian Center, the UF Equine Sciences Center and the Horse Teaching Unit. Proximity to the Department of Animal Sciences, as well as the College of Medicine, encourages collaboration with scientists and clinicians from other areas than veterinary medicine. Expected Salary:

Rank and salary will be commensurate with experience of the successful candidate.

Minimum Requirements:

Applicants must have a DVM or equivalent degree. Clinical experience in comparative reproduction, mainly in equine and canine species, is required.
