SUMMARY:

The Honors Academic Coordinator supports student success by providing, research direction, mentorship, and instructions to all levels of Honors students at the university (Honors College, University Honors Scholar Program).

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Evaluate suitability of Honors proposals and theses.
  • Assists in admissions oversight. Participates in interview and candidate evaluation.
  • Assists in direction of Honors Scholar Program. Specific tasks include recruiting transfer and Regents Scholars to program, and tracking completion rates of Honors by contract students.
  • Collects institutional effectiveness data and prepares annual goal and results reports.
  • Mentors students on career paths, application of marketable skills, etc.
  • Provides mentor-ship and direction to the Student Honors Council.
  • Oversees community services program.
  • Assists in the recruiting of Honors College students.
  • Assists in planning of educational and social events for current students and alumni.
  • Helps maintain the Honors College social media presence.
  • Teaches Honors Courses
  • Coordinates and supervises one of the Honors capstone tracks.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Education: Bachelors’ degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience: Four (4) years of program administration experience.
  • Knowledge / Skills: Excellent organizational and administrative abilities. Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications. Excellent written communication, analytical, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to: Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others. Ability to present information clearly and concisely. Ability to work with sensitive information and maintain confidentiality.
  • Licensing/Professional Certifications: None
  • Physical Requirements: None
  • Other Requirements: Work beyond normal office hours and/or work on weekends.

PREFERRED EDUCATION / SKILLS/ EXPERIENCE:

Masters’ degree. Experience with Honors education (e.g., Honors council, thesis direction, graduation from an Honors Program). Experience working with Banner.
