Job Details
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
•Manages the University's social and pre-professional Greek letter fraternity and sorority system.
•Maintains the positive position of the Fraternity and Sorority Life community by ensuring their understanding and compliance with all University policies, as well as municipal, state, and federal laws by providing the appropriate resources and training.
•Works with organizations and national chapters to maintain accurate records of Greek membership and participation on and off campus.
•Designs and implements assessments to evaluate the effectiveness of programs and services offered to the student organizations and the FSL community by the Office of Student Leadership and Engagement.
•Advises and provides leadership to fraternity and sorority councils on campus.
•Develops annual operating budget and ensure that University resources are efficiently, ethically, and effectively utilized.
•Monitors and maintains budgetary controls and accountability.
•Creates and executes initiatives around hazing prevention, sexual violence, new member education, identity and inclusion, and other topics as determined.
•Serves as a liaison to national offices, regional and on campus advisors.
•Remains current with national trends and represents Hofstra at conferences.
•Collaborates with OSLE in the implementation of campus wide programs and traditions.
•Exercises judgment and independent initiatives.
•Handles time-sensitive matters that require concise problem-solving and a high degree of confidentiality.
•Serves as an active member of the Administrative Conduct Board for the Office of Community Standards including all required training.
•Serves on university committees as assigned.
•Attends all applicable training sessions.
•Assists in all aspects of office operations, including contributions to strategic planning and assessment efforts.
•Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:•Master’s degree in a related field (e.g., student affairs, education, counseling) required.
•Two years of full-time experience in a related area.
•Ability to effectively supervise graduate and undergraduate student staff.
•Knowledge of student development/leadership theories fraternity and sorority life, and current best practices in the field.
•Demonstrated commitment to the holistic development of diverse student populations.
•Excellent interpersonal, problem-solving, presentation, written and oral communication skills.
•Ability to work effectively and ethically with a diverse population of students, University faculty/administrators, and community members.
•Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends as required.
•Ability to learn new software as needed.
•Demonstrated knowledge of social media platforms, desktop publishing, and web content management system software.
•Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
Preferred Qualifications:
•Prior experience with Ellucian Banner, Access, and CollegiateLink.
•Prior experience working with Fraternity and Sorority Life.
