General SummaryThe Illinois State University Office of Sustainability seeks a full-time Sustainability Assistant Director to support sustainability initiatives and goals throughout the University.
Additional InformationThe Illinois State University Office of Sustainability serves as a leader for sustainability initiatives and climate commitments across campus. We are dedicated to creating a culture of sustainability at ISU through interdisciplinary and inclusive collaboration with students, faculty, and staff. We strive to develop solutions to reduce our environmental impact, integrate best practices into campus operations, and use every corner of our living laboratory to educate and inform our Redbird community.
Required Qualifications1. Bachelor’s or equivalent degree. Transcript required - may be unofficial
2. 1-3 years of experience in quantitative and qualitative data administration, including data collection, tools, storage, reporting, and visualization, preferably in a higher education setting
3. Demonstrated advanced knowledge of sustainability concepts and practices
4. Creative and visionary thinker with excellent organizational, analytical, and project management skills
5. Demonstrated knowledge in the area of social equity, environmental justice, diversity, and inclusion
6. Strong verbal, written, interpersonal, and supervisory skills
7. Able to handle multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and work both independently and as a collaborative member of the University while pursuing sustainability goals
1. Familiarity with higher education organizational structure including Academic Affairs, Student Affairs, Development, Research, Finance, etc.
2. Ability to interpret analyze and report sustainability metrics such as energy calculations, cost benefit analysis, greenhouse gas reporting, and AASHE STARS data.
3. Experience working with shared governance groups, including faculty, staff, and student groups, student government, and student organizations.
Monday - Friday; 37.5 hour work week (evenings and weekends on occasion)
Functional ExpectationsMust be able to complete the following with or without a reasonable accommodation:

2. Effectively communicate on a daily basis.
3. Move about in various locations across campus as needed to complete day-to-day work.

If you meet the minimum required qualifications for this position, you will receive a score calculated based on your education and experience, and your name will be placed on the active employment register by exam score.
