Primary Purpose of the Organizational Unit:

The mission of the Department of Information Systems and Supply Chain Management (ISSCM) is to provide high-quality programs in information systems and supply chain management. We achieve this by integrating quality education with relevant research and professional service for industry and academe. This endeavor produces principled leaders and exceptional problem solvers with an innovative mindset and a commitment to improve and sustain organizations in a global environment and the communities in which they live.
ISSCM is a well-established department that offers programs at the undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral levels. The department consists of 17 full-time faculty members, 400+ undergraduate students, and 100+ graduate students
The ISSCM Department comprises faculty drawn from Information Systems and Supply Chain Management areas. The Department offers a PhD in Information Systems, MS in Information Technology & Management (MSITM), with specializations in cyber security, business analytics, and supply chain management. The program is both online and face to face and offers an innovative stackable certificate option to complete the degree. The undergraduate program is currently being revised and will offer majors in Information Systems, Supply Chain Management, Cyber Security, and Enterprise Resource Planning. All ISSCM offerings are well aligned with SAS, SAP, and Red Hat, offering a pathway for the students to independently gain industry certifications.

The Bryan School has 3,700 undergraduate and graduate students and 116 full- and part-time faculty members housed in six departments and programs. Approximately 42 percent of the School’s faculty are women, and 27.3 percent are from underrepresented ethnic groups (UREG), and the School is striving to improve both percentages. Accredited in both business and accounting by AACSB, the Bryan School is the recipient of many rankings, honors, and accolades. For example, in 2021 its tenure stream faculty members averaged 2.9 peer reviewed journal articles each (19 in 12 different FT50 journals), plus 23 others in A or A+ journals, in addition to books and grants. Position Summary:

The Department of Information Systems and Supply Chain Management (ISSCM) in the Bryan School of Business at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro (UNCG) invites applications, expressions of interest, and nominations for a tenure track position at the Assistant Professor rank in Information Systems focusing in the area of Cyber Security. The position will commence on August 1, 2023.

We expect the selected candidate to conduct impactful research in Cyber Security, Information Security, and their affiliated areas and to be able to teach courses in various areas of Cyber Security and, more generally, information systems, ensuring that there is an appropriate level of technical content. As per AACSB accreditation standards, there is an expectation that the candidate’s research is tied to her or his teaching area and to one or more key elements of our mission (problem solving, innovation, globalization, sustainability, and ethics), while also participating in department initiatives and hands-on projects.

Teaching experience and evidence of successful high-quality refereed journal scholarship will be considered positively. Candidates should show promise of publishing in mainstream top-tier Information Systems journals, such as found in the FT50 or CABS Academic Journal Guide at the 4 and 4* levels.

Minimum Qualifications:

Applicants should hold a doctorate from an AACSB or EQUIS accredited school with a specialization in Cyber Security or Information Security. This may be within a broader PhD in Information Systems OR Information Science and Technology OR a closely related discipline. ABDs who are assured of completion by August 1, 2023, may be considered.
