Duties Performed in the Usual Course of the Job:

The College of Education at Sam Houston State University seeks to hire an exceptional Post-Doctoral Fellow to join a multi-disciplinary and diverse team to contribute to growing research and to teach courses in the areas of Counselor Education, Educational Leadership, Library Science and Technology, and/or the School of Teaching and Learning. Valuing diversity and the strength found in diversity is a major component of the College of Education strategic plan and the selected candidate will intentionally contribute to the ongoing commitment to diversity and inclusiveness. The purpose of this position is to support the development of early career scholars from diverse backgrounds (with particular attention to historically underrepresented groups in the academy).

This fellowship is a two-year, post-doctoral appointment within the College of Education and the candidate selected will receive mentoring from existing Tenure-Track faculty. Annually, appointments are for 9-months (fall/spring). The selected candidate will teach up to four courses in the fall and up to four courses in the spring and engage with ongoing research design, planning, and data analysis. Summer teaching appointments are possible but not guaranteed as they are contingent upon departmental needs and availability. Actual semester teaching load may be negotiated with the department or program with Dean’s approval.

After a successful 2-year appointment and pending successful evaluation and availability of budget, the selected candidate will have the opportunity to apply and transition to a Tenure-Track Assistant Professor position beginning in 2024-2025 academic year.

Educational Requirements for the Position:

Candidates will have earned a Ph.D. or Ed.D. in Counselor Education, Educational Leadership, Library Science, Instructional Design Technology, Curriculum and Instruction, Literacy or related field prior to the beginning of their assignment.

The selected candidate will have a proven track-record of involvement in diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives.

Other Requirements for the Position:

Post-Doctoral Fellows will be expected to contribute in the areas of teaching, research, and service/professional development. The successful candidate will assist with various research projects; assist with grant writing and development; collaborate as necessary with various research teams; contribute to development of new research projects; contribute to research papers for publication in peer-reviewed journals; assist with and present at research conferences; participate in service opportunities; and engage in the mission, goals, and strategic development of the college.
