- Works one-on-one or in small groups with FVSU students at all levels
- Develops resources (handouts, worksheets, web content) for the Writing Center and conducts writing workshops
- Assists students with scheduling appointments for tutorial sessions
- Promotes writing services by performing classroom presentations with student tutors and creates marketing materials
- Accurately tracks appointments and maintains student records in the EAB Student Success Management System
- Assists in observing and providing feedback to student writing tutors
- Actively participates in staff meetings
- Knowledge or awareness of the operation of educational institutions
- Ability to use and manage microcomputer facilities.
- Ability to troubleshoot computer hardware and software.
- Excellent customer service skills
- Excellent organizational and facilitation skills
- Ability to display attention to detail.

Guidelines include the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act, the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, Title III guidelines, and university and Board of Regents policies and procedures. These guidelines require judgement, selection and interpretation in application. This position develops department guidelines.
SUPERVISORY AND MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITY- This position supervises the Peer Tutors assigned to the Reading & Writing Lab.
- Master's Degree in English, Rhetoric and Composition, or related field, preferred.
- 1+ years of tutoring or writing center experience preferred
- Proficiency using standard office software applications
- An understanding of the diverse learning needs of FVSU students; including demonstrable knowledge on how to support English language learners, students with disabilities, and students with writing anxiety
- Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills
- Adherence to student confidentiality
