Overview

Reporting to the Deputy Dean of the Faculty, this position is responsible for managing processes and initiatives related to the compliance of faculty and academic professionals with University policies and procedures. This position will serve as a resource to faculty and academic professionals appointed by the Office of the Dean of the Faculty (ODOF) in matters relating to compliance, and in this context liaise with campus partners such as the Office for the Dean for Research, the Office of Research Integrity and Assurance, the Office of Research Project Administration, the Investigations Unit, and the Office of General Counsel. The person in this role will serve as the primary contact with faculty and academic professionals in compliance and investigative proceedings, and serve as the first point of contact for new investigations, managing the communications from ODOF with faculty and academic professionals, their departments, and the Investigations Unit. The person in this role will work closely with the Deputy Dean of the Faculty and the Associate Dean for Finance and Administration to manage and mitigate conflicts of commitment and conflicts of interest, and the review of outside contracts and agreements. This position will partner with the Manager of Faculty & Staff ADA Accommodations in Human Resources to support reasonable accommodations for ODOF constituents in compliance with applicable federal and state laws. This position will also manage special projects, including training initiatives; serve on cross-functional University committees/groups; and may lead ODOF projects associated with compliance.

Responsibilities
  • Serve a primary point of contact from the Office of the Dean of the Faculty for compliance matters
  • Partner with various campus offices to provide training to faculty and academic professionals on compliance matters
  • Manage special projects
  • Provide tracking and reporting of compliance matters
  • Advise on and assist with the development and updating of applicable policies, processes, and procedures
  • Communicate about compliance and policies to end users
  • Serve as ODOF’s point person for outside contract reviews
  • Serve as primary investigative intake officer for all formal complaints involving faculty or academic professionals
  • Serve as ODoF's research integrity officer
  • Support reasonable accommodations for ODoF constituents in compliance with applicable federal and state law
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Proven record of managing complex issues; communicating with diverse constituencies; meeting deadlines; prioritizing competing demands
  • Must work with absolute discretion and tact in handling highly confidential information
  • Experience in conflict resolution
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively at all organizational levels and with complex administrative teams
  • Demonstrated ability to handle multiple assignments and respond quickly to changing business needs and priorities
  • Excellent communication skills and superior attention to detail
  • 7 or more years of professional experience or 5 or more years with a terminal degree

Preferred

  • Strong knowledge of compliance policies and guidelines
  • Terminal degree preferred
