The Foothill-De Anza Community College District is currently accepting applications for the faculty position of Instructor, Administration of Justice, De Anza College.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE POSITION INCLUDE:
Under the direction of the Dean of Social Sciences and Humanities Division, instructor will teach Administration of Justice courses to a diverse student population at a college committed to student equity. The instructor must be knowledgeable about criminal justice/administration of justice profession and have experience working as a public safety officer. The instructor will be expected to teach in two or more topic areas in which they have direct experience. Course topic areas are typical of lower division undergraduate work such as introduction to administration of justice, community relations, crime correction and society, concepts of criminal law, etc... In this role, the faculty will also develop, implement, and evaluate curriculum in the subject matter of expertise and lecture where appropriate. This should include the integration of computers for instructional purposes in both the laboratory and lecture where appropriate.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  1. Understanding of, sensitivity to, and respect for the diverse academic, socio-economic, ethnic, religious, and cultural backgrounds, disability, and sexual orientation of community college students, faculty and staff.
  2. Possession of a Bachelor's degree or above AND two years of experience in criminal justice/administration of justice OR an Associate degree AND six years of experience in (criminal justice/administration of justice) OR the equivalent (see below).

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Applicant has a breadth and depth of a variety criminal justice work assignments, experience, and education/training in a local/municipal, state, or federal level of criminal justice.
  2. Successful experience in teaching or evidence of preparation to teach the full range of college level criminal justice courses
  3. Ability to teach both theoretical concepts and practical skills needed for criminal justice employment
  4. Commitment to and proficiency in creating curricula and methods of delivery that reflect present department standards and practices
  5. Have fieldwork and industry or workforce experience in criminal justice and/or administration of justice.
  6. Evidence of training and/or history of effective interaction with students at the basic and developmental levels
  7. The ability to motivate students from a broad spectrum of diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds, as well as levels of preparation
  8. Experience in computer-based applications and modern technologies for teaching criminal justice courses including proficiencies in educational teaching platforms
  9. Knowledge of the issues surrounding the training and successful employment requirements within the criminal justice field.
  10. Experience or familiarity with the development of student learning outcomes and with assessment, as well as program review, for criminal justice courses
  11. Familiarity with and willingness to expand the use of technology appropriate to the subject areas of the assignment, including distance education

HIRING RANGE: $60,490.00 - $99,345.00 annually plus benefits; actual placement is based on applicant's verified education and experience.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Full-time, Tenure-track, 10-months per year
