Position Overview & Responsibilities Winston School of Education and Social Policy at Merrimack College invites applications for a full-time, calendar year (12-month) position of Non-tenure-track Academic Manager of the Online Teacher Education Program. This role is a faculty position with a combination of teaching and administrative responsibilities. The NTT Academic Manager collaborates with the Director of Online Education Programs, in anticipating and responding to changing needs of the rapidly expanding online offerings. This role will teach courses in the online teacher education program and oversee student enrollment, track program progress, serve as liaison to Meteor Learning coaches/program faculty, and prepare and monitor the master course schedule. The ideal candidate will have graduate teaching experience, a background in working with online learning programs, and familiarity with licensure standards. They will feel comfortable collaborating with school building leaders and the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) as well as Winston School of Education and Social Policy K-12 field placement staff members. The NTT Academic Manager’s administrative responsibilities will include, but are not limited to: Working with the Director of Field Placement:
- Assist the Director in designing evolving structures, policies, and department initiatives. Participate in online program meetings; maintain a database of all students enrolled in the program as well as in the field. Monitor affiliation agreements.
- Work with program faculty and CASS advisors to facilitate program/course enrollment, and track student progress. Prepare program pathways for each licensure area. Conduct outreach to schools to identify and facilitate partnerships. Maintain key student and organizational files required by the state of Massachusetts. Organize, plan and lead student orientation/information sessions on Teacher Education Program requirements.
- Collaborate with the Director to address the needs of students in the classroom and in the field. Collaborate with program faculty and support services to address academic issues as they relate to program/course enrollment and field placement. Schedule workshops and advise students on the pre-practicum, Candidate Assessment of Performance (CAP), and add license processes, as needed.
- M.A. or M.Ed. degree. 5+ years of professional experience required. Counseling/Advising experience a plus. Exemplary organizational skills. Experience with google suite of tools (Docs, Sheets, Slides, etc). Excellent communication skills. Desire to work in a fast-paced and highly collaborative environment. Ability to multitask.
