Position Summary::

This position performs professional librarian functions within a higher education setting. Responsibilities may include providing research and reference services for patrons; information literacy instruction; overseeing various library operations including circulation, material inventory, cataloging, and acquisition; and recommending and implementing policies and procedures. This position reports to the Coordinator of Library Services at South Campus.

Staff Required Education/Experience::

Master’s degree accredited by the American Library Association. Will consider an applicant near completion of Master’s Degree program.

Other Knowledge, Skills and Abilities::

Knowledge of library organization, materials, services, and policies and procedures; knowledge of the principles and methods of evaluating library materials and equipment; effective written and oral communication skills; ability to organize and supervise the work of assigned staff; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, staff of other libraries, and the public; and ability to conduct oneself with tact and courtesy.

This position is assigned to the South Campus; however flexibility to work at multiple locations is required. Hours will be Monday – Thursday from 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. This is a PART-TIME position.

Duty and Responsibility::

Performs a wide range of library circulation activities, which includes: assisting and training patrons, student workers, faculty, and staff in finding print and electronic resources; ascertaining and responding to patron’s needs; searching for and pulling materials from shelves for patrons; processing incoming and outgoing library materials; obtaining payments for fines; creating and updating patron records; placing materials on hold; preparing and disseminating notifications of overdue items; communicating library policies and procedures; and/or performing related activities.

Develops and maintains, monitors, and evaluates collections in assigned area of responsibility; recommends additions and removal of collection items; processes purchased and donated materials; orders supplies and catalogs materials; and performs related activities.

The college's New and Expanding Industry Training office has earned national recognition for cooperative training efforts with area industries. Focused Industrial Training designs innovative educational programs for the service region's manufacturing sector.

An important function of the college is to provide educational programs on the pre-college level. Literacy Services offer adults the opportunity for meaningful social and occupational growth through Adult Basic Education (ABE), Human Resources Development (HRD), and the High School Equivalency Program (GED).
