Position Summary:

Florida Atlantic University is seeking an Accounting Coordinator, Boca Raton, FL.

Summary of responsibilities include:

  • Reviewing, analyzing, and reconciling balance sheet and income statement accounts.

  • Reviewing, analyzing, and reconciling intercompany accounts between the Foundation and the University.

  • Responsible for several reconciliations for Balance sheet and P&L accounts.

  • Preparing monthly analysis surrounding relevant accounts.

  • Preparing and assembling work papers, schedules, and accounting summaries on a monthly and/or quarterly basis.

  • Maintaining general and/or subsidiary account ledgers and handling a wide variety of funds for a department/unit/university or Foundation.

  • Preparing and reviewing journal entries generated within the Foundation Office and from various departments within the organization.

  • Maintaining controls and performing balancing operations on accounting activities for the department/unit or Foundation.

  • Interpreting fiscal and accounting administrative rules and policies and recommending new and improved programs to effectively manage fiscal and accounting administration.

  • Maintaining policies and procedures for the area of specialty and designing and delivering various specialized projects.

  • Assisting with preparing monthly financial statements and related monthly information, and participating in year-end audit.

  • May represent the Foundation in appropriate departmental meetings.

  • Coordinating, developing, implementing, and interpreting operating procedures surrounding financial accounting and reporting.

  • Assisting Foundation administrators and inter-institutional groups throughout the University community in resolving specific fiscal and accounting problems and in disseminating information regarding Foundation rules, policies, and contracts.

  • Designing, developing, and conducting special studies in the assigned area(s) of fiscal and accounting. Collecting and analyzing data as appropriate.

  • Preparing fiscal statements and reports, as requested.

  • Performing special projects, as requested.

Minimum Qualifications:

Master's degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate area of specialization; or a bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate area of specialization and two years of appropriate experience required.

Exercises proficiency in GAAP (General Accepted Accounting Principles).

Proficiency with Microsoft Office including Outlook, Excel, and Word.

Preferred Qualifications:

A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in accounting.

Familiarity with Workday ERP system.

Familiarity with NFP (Not for Profit) accounting.

Work experience in the industry of higher education.

Familiarity with Accounting under GASB (Governmental Accounting Standards Board).

Salary:

$60,000 - $70,000 per year
