Senior Associate for Communications, McCourt School of Public Policy - Georgetown University

Overview

The Senior Associate for Communications, in collaboration with the Strategic Communications and Events team, helps to develop and implement a strategic, multifaceted communications program designed to support the mission and strategic objectives of the McCourt School of Public Policy, with a particular focus on McCourt's emerging Tech and Public Policy program.

The Senior Associate helps to tell the story of the McCourt School and our impact across McCourt School and Georgetown channels to key internal and external audiences - in their primary responsibility to draft long-form news content writing, web page content, social media videos and social media posts.

They are responsible for McCourt's Tech and Public Policy communications portfolio, an emerging program that seeks to connect and grow McCourt's academic programs and expertise to address the challenges and opportunities of our ever-evolving digital society - from our Massive Data Institute which serves as a hub for researchers in government, academia, and industry to use new and traditional large-scale data sources to solve societal-scale problems, to our Master of Science in Data Science for Public Policy program which prepares students with the skills to inform data-driven policy, to courses in public interest technology, cyber conflict and security, and big data and artificial intelligence. The portfolio also includes Georgetown and the McCourt School's partnership with the McCourt Institute, an independent organization, to further scholarship from University experts on the use of technology to further the common good.

Work Interactions

Reporting to the Associate Director of Communications, the Senior Associate collaborates extensively with the Program Director of McCourt's Tech and Public Policy program, McCourt's Digital Media Associate, and the McCourt School Communications and Events team.

They also collaborate with other McCourt staff - the Admissions team, with McCourt institutes and centers like MDI - as well as with campus partners such as Georgetown's Tech and Society program, the Office of Advancement, the Office of Strategic Communications, and the McCourt School's Strategic and Development teams.
