The assistant director of digital marketing is primarily responsible for assisting the director of digital strategy through the development and implementation of digital marketing strategies to increase brand awareness for the College. This individual will utilize business intelligence and social listening tools to analyze data; develop strategic social media campaigns and content that are aligned to the College’s marketing pillars; and distribute content and engage audiences across the College’s digital channels. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop, schedule, and execute social media content across the College’s primary handles
  • Maximize the use of business intelligence and social listening software to provide strategic and timely content to segmented audiences
  • Monitor brand mentions and online conversations through social channels
  • Work to cross-promote content and maximize engagement with key audiences
  • Provide reporting and metrics on strategic content series and campaigns
  • Identify and build relationships with appropriate brand advocates
  • Consult and design social strategies for campus partners and major departments
  • Train and educate campus partners in best social media practices
  • Contribute to implementation of social media content strategies around major Colby events, initiatives, and announcements
  • Aid in creation and distribution of email newsletters
  • Oversee student workers in the production of digital content
  • Perform additional duties as assigned; duties, responsibilities, and activities may change at any time with or without notice

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree or the equivalent in education and experience
  • Three or more years of work experience in a related job discipline
  • Experience working with Brandwatch, Asana, Canva, Slate or similar software systems
  • Deep understanding of data, reporting, analytics, and campaigns
  • Experience executing paid social media advertising campaigns preferred
  • Ability to learn new platforms and teach others
  • Superior written and verbal communication skills
  • Highly organized, self-motivated, attentive to detail, technically proficient, and dedicated
  • Proven ability to make an impact through work as a member of a diverse community
  • Talent to consistently meet deadlines and follow-through on tasks; ability to function in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
  • High energy, creative initiative, and flexibility are essential
  • Confidence to exercise discretion while working independently, as well as the commitment to working as part of a team, are expected
  • High level of respect for the kind of learning that happens at a liberal arts college

KEY RELATIONSHIPS:

This position has significant interaction with students, faculty, staff, the public, and community.

WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

General open office and campus environment. Position involves sitting, although frequent movement is necessary. Computer usage involving repetitive hand/wrist motion is also necessary. Flexibility in working some nights and weekends is essential.
