Job Description

RESPONSIBILITIES

Teach all assigned classes, which may include evening or off-campus assignments unless excused according to Board Policy provisions. Maintain accurate records of student enrollment, attendance, and academic progress. Assist in maintaining course outline for each assigned course. Be familiar with and observe the administrative regulations as they appear in the Faculty Handbook (flex calendar obligations, course overviews, etc.). Participate in department committees and activities. Will teach a variety of courses/levels within the discipline/area of study

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
REQUIREMENTS MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (Applicants must meet one of the following):
  • Possess from an accredited institution: Master's degree in computer science or computer engineering OR Bachelor's in either of the above AND Master's in mathematics, cybernetics, business administration, accounting or engineering OR Bachelor's in engineering AND Master's in cybernetics, engineering, mathematics, or business administration OR Bachelor's in mathematics AND Master's in cybernetics, engineering, mathematics, or business administration OR Bachelor's degree in any of the above AND A master's degree in information science, computer information systems, or information systems, OR
  • Possess a valid California Community College credential authorizing service in the discipline, OR
  • The equivalent (applicants who do not meet the above minimum qualifications must complete the Equivalencies Section in the application form and provide conclusive evidence of such). (NOTE: Courses in the use of computer programs for application to a particular discipline may be classified for minimum qualifications purposes, under the discipline of the application.)
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS
  • Experience in teaching students from diverse ethnic and cultural backgrounds and widely varying levels of proficiency preferred.
  • A working knowledge of and experience with student learning outcomes and assessment.

Based upon the information presented on the application materials, a limited number of candidates with qualifications most pertinent to the position will be invited to participate in the selection process, which may include a written test and an oral interview. Meeting the minimum requirements of the position does not guarantee advancement in the selection process. Candidate qualifications will be assessed to determine those who meet and exceed requirements and are deemed most competitive amongst the applicant pool to proceed. InterviewApplicants selected for an interview may be required to take additional tests or assessments and will be notified of such prior to the date of the interview. During the oral session, those selected for interviews, in addition to the above, may be evaluated on the following factors:

  • Successful teaching, problem solving or performance demonstration
  • Writing skills/demonstration
A predetermined set of questions will be asked of all applicants interviewed. Applicants are requested to provide thorough yet concise information on their related experience to ensure the correct evaluation of their qualifications. Foreign Transcripts: Education completed outside of the United States must be deemed equivalent to that gained in the conventional/accredited United States education programs to be considered for the satisfaction of minimum qualifications. Foreign transcripts must be translated and evaluated by the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services (NACES), a United States based credentials evaluation service. Conditions of Employment Selected candidate(s) is required to complete the following prior to employment as part of the onboarding process:
  1. Submit official transcripts
  2. Present original documents for proof of eligibility to work in the United States (by in-person appointment in Human Resources)
  3. Provide a certificate of Tuberculosis Exam
  4. Fingerprints (by a Live Scan Agency at the candidate's expense and clearance must be received prior to first day of employment)

In the heart of Orange County lies Rancho Santiago Community College District, home of one of the state’s oldest community colleges, Santa Ana College, and also one of its newest, Santiago Canyon College. Centered in a growing and dynamic area, the district serves a population of more than 700,000 residents in the communities of Anaheim Hills, Garden Grove, Irvine, Orange, Santa Ana, Tustin and Villa Park.

Encompassing 24 percent of Orange County’s total area (193 square miles), the district maintains eight facilities. Rancho Santiago Community College District is home to two colleges and four continuing education centers throughout the Central Orange County area. In addition, the college district presents convenient community education courses in many other locations in cooperation with its education and community partners.

Santa Ana College founded in 1915, is a comprehensive community college preparing students for the workplace as well as to transfer to four-year higher learning institutions. Students may earn an associate degree certificate. For those willing to commit to high academic achievement, honors courses are offered. The college also assists students in gaining basic skills and technology proficiency so they can pursue other goals. It is located at the corner of West 17th Street and Bristol in Santa Ana on about 58 acres.

Santiago Canyon College, one of the state’s newest community colleges, offers a comprehensive curriculum that includes university transfer as well as associate degree programs. Honors courses are offered to those with high academic achievement goals. In addition, the college provides community services, technical certificate programs, non-credit courses and basic skills instruction. Situated on 82 acres, the college is located in Orange at the corner of Chapman Avenue and Newport Drive.
