Description:

Flagler College invites applications for a part-time adjunct teaching position in strategic communication beginning August 2022.

Responsibilities will include teaching two face-to-face strategic communication classes during the fall semester, which runs from Aug. 24 to Dec. 8, 2022. The course description for the classes is below:

COM311 – Advanced Writing for PR/Strategic Communication

This course includes writing for print, electronic, controlled, and uncontrolled media, and publications. Emphasis is given to research, audience analysis, and selection of appropriate writing styles and media. The course prepares students for advanced writing in public relations and provides practice in developing news releases, event planning, report writing, newsletters, and presentations.”

COM463, Strategic Communication Campaigns

“Using the principles and techniques of public relations to analyze case studies and to create strategies and campaigns. Course includes the analysis of a specific situation and the design and construction of an actual campaign. Includes use of desktop publishing and an introduction to public relations in cyberspace.”

The Flagler College Communication Department offers the class, which is a requirement for all Flagler College strategic communication students.

The application deadline for the teaching position is August 10, however, review of applications will begin immediately.

 

 


Qualifications:

A Master's degree or above in communication, strategic communication, public relations or advertising. Experience in public speaking will also be considered.

Essential Functions/Duties:  

• Teach the strategic communication courses following the syllabus and course design that is in place.

• Teach courses in accordance with college and departmental policies and procedures.

• Prepare and submit timely grade reports and other reports on student performance as may be scheduled or required.  

• Organize class activities and assignments, relating them to the overall learning outcomes of the course.
