SEHD Assessment and Program Improvement Office has an opening for a full-time University Staff (unclassified) Senior Data Analyst and Assessment System Manager position.

Position Emphasis:
The School of Education and Human Development (SEHD) is committed to the assessment of student learning across all its academic programs, maintaining national accreditations for its educator and counselor preparation programs, and engaging in continuous program improvement. This position, housed within the SEHD Assessment and Program Improvement Office, works with the Executive Director in engaging the school in learning outcomes assessment, program improvement, planning, research, accreditation, and external reporting. 

This position conducts program improvement activities, including designing surveys and assessment plans for use within SEHD and in cooperation with community partners. This position collaborates with faculty, administrators, and staff to design, execute, analyze, and interpret a variety of learning outcomes and program improvement data. The position manages online survey applications, online repositories of information, and the SEHD assessment management system.

The position uses large-scale databases as well as small data sets and appropriate statistical techniques to accomplish research and assessment objectives. The position also performs statistical analyses and conducts data searches in response to internal and external requests. 

The position manages annual federal, state, and accreditation reports in coordination with SEHD and internal as well as external partners. The position produces reports, charts, tables, interactive dashboards and presentations synthesizing research/assessment findings, and presenting findings to SEHD leadership, faculty, student, staff, and other stakeholder groups.  

Supervision Received: The Senior Data Analyst and Assessment System Manager will report to the Executive Director of SEHD Office of Assessment and Program Improvement (PN 00686418). It is expected that this individual is a self-starter and can work independently. 
 
Major Responsibilities:

This position works with various SEHD constituents (faculty, students, staff, and partners) on projects related to learning outcomes, learning assessment, and data management, analysis, and reporting.  

Supporting Quality Assessment and Continuous Program Improvement: 

  • Collaborate with faculty to develop and maintain SEHD’s systems and documentation that assure quality program-level assessment and program improvement efforts.
  • Consult with faculty/instructors in creating, validating, and implementing high-quality, program level assessments and scoring tools (rubrics).
  • Support the design, administration, analysis and reporting of research studies related to assessment and program improvement.
  • Co-facilitate SEHD program-level accreditation efforts including state reauthorization, CACREP, APA, and COAMFTE. 
Data Collection/Survey Management and Research Support:

  • Develop processes and supervise the maintenance of Office of Assessment online survey software.
  • Manage the annual administration of school-wide surveys of students, alumni, and other stakeholders.
  • Co-facilitate administration and training of SEHD Qualtrics users. 
  • Consult with SEHD faculty, staff, students and partners in the development and piloting of new or revised surveys. 
Assessment Management System Administration:

  • Administer SEHD assessment management system (AMS).
  • Manage vendor relationships identifying new functionality as available, changes to agreement, annual licenses. 
  • Develop processes and supervise the administration of faculty and staff accounts.
  • Create and manage systems to ensure course instructors are collecting assessment information each term. 
  • Develop and generate assessment reports for program improvement and for regular accreditation needs.
  • Facilitate the creation of assessments, rubrics, and the alignment to state and professional standards within the AMS.   
  • Work with campus partners to plan and maintain course and student data stored in the AMS.
  • Train SEHD faculty and staff on how to use AMS.
Information and Data Management:

  • Develop processes and manage the maintenance of SEHD’s online repository of program improvement data (utilizing a SQL database and in collaboration with the SEHD databased administrator). 
  • Manage the collection, analysis and reporting of external performance and administrative data. 
  • Partner with internal and external colleagues including SEHD’s Information and Technology Team and the Office of Institutional Research and Effectiveness in the collection and warehousing of data pertinent to the SEHD Assessment Office. 
  • Consult with administrators, faculty, and staff about how to leverage existing data to answer their research questions.
Data Analysis Reporting:

  • Manage annual federal, state, accreditation, and media reports in coordination with School and University partners. This includes Title II, SURDS, HLC, CACREP, US News and World Reports, and others as requested by SEHD leadership. 
  • Use Tableau, statistical software (such as R or SPSS), spreadsheet, and presentation applications to analyze, synthesize, and present data in a clear and concise manner for non-technical staff and faculty.
  • Respond to ad-hoc data requests from SEHD leadership, faculty, and staff as appropriate.  
  • Create and manage internal reports to program faculty that include statistics, graphs/charts, and summaries; leverage strategies toward effective benchmarking, predictive analytics, online dashboards, and overall data-usability for end-users.   
Administration:

  • Supervise Assessment Office Graduate Assistant and manage other Assessment Office employees at the direction (or, on behalf...) of the Executive Director as needed. 
  • Assist the Executive Director to create work plans for office and office staff.
  • Assist the Executive Director prepare updates and presentations for faculty and staff groups.
  • Assist Executive Director in planning annual office budget as needed. 
  • Represent the Office of Assessment in SEHD meetings and attend University meetings and groups on behalf of the Executive Director as requested.

Salary and Benefits:
The hiring range for this position has been established at $77,500 - $84,500.

The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training.

The above hiring range represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

This position is not eligible for overtime compensation.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:

  • Earned bachelor’s degree in an educational, technical, or related field. 
  • Five or more years of professional experience in institutional research, outcomes assessment research, and /or applied statistical research is required.
  • Three or more years of experience with statistics/quantitative data analysis utilizing SPSS, R, or a comparable software application to support research and assessment.
  • Two or more years of experience creating data visualizations in Tableau, R Shiny, Power BI, or similar data visualization software.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Earned master’s, PhD or EdD degree in an educational, technical, or related field. 
  • Experience with the technical aspects of general and survey research, including research purpose and design, statistical and research methods, data collection and/or extraction, and data analyses and evaluation.
  • Experience working with educational assessment and surveys related to higher education accreditation.
  • Expertise in LiveText or similar AMS systems, Qualtrics or similar online survey application, and Tableau.
  • Experience with relational database systems.
  • Experience with SQL database design or administration.
  • Professional experience using business-intelligence concepts, tools, and strategies.
Competencies/Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Proven competency in the technical aspects of general and survey research, including research purpose and design, statistical and research methods, data collection and/or extraction, and data analyses and evaluation.
  • Knowledge of SQL database design or administration.
