Position Overview & Responsibilities

Reporting to the AVP of Institutional Effectiveness and Planning, the Data Coordinator will have responsibility for maintaining and organizing the quantitative data used in the Office of Institutional Effectiveness. The Data Coordinator will support the College’s and Office’s efforts to collect, manage, and share data with both internal and external audiences. The position must be able to work independently under the administrative direction on multiple data, research, and reporting projects. The position will be part of an active team in the Office and will work closely with academic affairs personnel in the Office of the Provost. Specific duties will include maintaining critical data files and reports, data integrity, data cleaning, and working with other data users on campus.

Responsibilities include:

    Maintain, clean, validate, and organize institutional data. Help ensure data integrity. Assist the AVP through data support in developing critical internal reports. Assist the AVP through data support in developing critical external reports including the common data set, IPEDS, and accreditation reporting. Develop, organize, and synthesize data from multiple sources to create working datasets for further analysis. Adapt and respond to new data reporting requirements based on emerging needs, including ad hoc requests suitable to the needs of various stakeholders in the Office and across the College. Ensure integrity and accuracy of all deliverables. Work and collaborate with other personnel in the Office of Institutional Effectiveness.
Qualifications:

    Bachelor’s degree. At least 3 years of experience in a higher education setting. 3-5 years as a business/data/financial analyst in higher education. 3 years of experience working in teams. Demonstrated problem-solving and data project management skills. Fluency with basic software used in institutional research (eg., Excel, ERPs) and research platforms (eg., IPEDS). Able to work independently and in small teams, and understand shared accountability and tight deadlines. Track record of proficient understanding and use of data and the ability to build datasets for use in a higher education context. Basic understanding of how colleges/universities ‘work.’ Proven ability to mine, combine and analyze data from both internal student information systems and budget databases and external sources (eg., IPEDS). Demonstrated ability to prioritize and manage a variety of projects. Excellent oral and written communication skills and ability to work effectively at all levels. Basic knowledge and understanding of higher education federal and/or state reports and reporting procedures. Customer-service mindset.
