Job Description:


SUNY Schenectady County Community College is seeking a temporary part-time Chemistry Lab Educational Aide for their Math, Science, Technology and Health Division. The educational aide is responsible for the set-up and break down of laboratories for all Chemistry classes as well as the preparation of solutions, culture, and media. This individual is also responsible for the general cleanliness of the laboratories.


Responsibilities:


  • Supervision of set up and break down of all Chemistry lab classes
  • Oversight of set up of common laboratory equipment
  • Repairing or arranging for repair of equipment
  • Inventory/cataloging waste materials
  • Maintaining inventory of chemicals, materials, and glassware
  • Ordering materials and equipment
  • Assisting faculty and students in research or instructional activities and programs Maintain a clean and safe lab environment


Requirements:


Minimum Qualifications:


  • Associate's Degree in Science-related discipline is required
  • Basic computer skills
  • Organized and detail oriented
  • Must be available to work some evenings and Saturdays
  • Minimum of 2 years working within a laboratory setting

Preferred Qualifications:


  • Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry or related field
  • Prior experience working with students

Special Information:


  • The temporary appointment for this position is 8/1/22-5/31/23.
  • VISA sponsorship is not available for this position.
  • Offers of employment will be conditional based on the successful completion of a background check and verification of official college transcripts.
