Director of Integrated Career Development, School of Continuing Studies - Georgetown University

Located in a historic neighborhood in the nation's capital, Georgetown offers rigorous academic programs, a global perspective, and exciting ways to take advantage of Washington, D.C., and a commitment to social justice. Our community is a tight knit group of remarkable individuals interested in intellectual inquiry and making a difference in the world.

Georgetown's School of Continuing Studies (SCS) seeks to foster a collaborative, innovative, and student-first culture shaped by Georgetown's Jesuit heritage and values. SCS endeavors to be a center of innovation and growth within the University by introducing academic programs that respond to emerging and evolving needs in the economy and society. When you join our team at SCS, you become part of a thriving ecosystem of staff and faculty committed to inspiring students to seek something greater in their lives and careers.

The SCS Director of Integrated Career Development is responsible for the design and implementation of a scalable, innovative career development services capability supporting primarily adult students enrolled in professional, non-credit certificate programs at Georgetown University's School of Continuing Studies (SCS). Informed by emerging career services strategies and best practices from public, private, and for-profit educational models such as boot camps and OPMs, they will design, develop, and manage the implementation of the processes and systems required to operationalize an innovative model that connects non-credit adult students with regional and national employers to deliver outstanding rates of job placement for students completing our programs.

Reporting to the Senior Director of Professional Development and Certificates, the Director of Integrated Career Systems makes heavy use of data and digital systems to match students with employers based on student skills, capabilities, academic and professional experience, as well as regional and national labor market statistics on demand for skills and occupations, employer hiring trends, and economic indicators. Social media, Salesforce, and other technology platforms are used to enhance recruiting efforts and engage more meaningfully with candidates and employers, while gathering personal and career development outcome data to ensure accountability and success. Ultimately, the system created by the Director will provide employers with a virtual "talent pipeline" that positions Georgetown SCS as the staffing resource of choice for top employers headquartered in the region.

Internally, the Director works closely with program administrators and faculty to embed the career development process into the academic experience from day one of the student's time with SCS; and they work with students to understand their needs, orient them toward the career development resources, and ensure they are getting value from the services. They also establish strategic partnerships within SCS and across Georgetown and by networking effectively with a broad range of people at all levels.

Externally, the Director establishes and maintains contact with key hiring resources in all employment sectors in Washington, DC and the United States, and articulates the benefits of hiring from the SCS talent pool to employers potentially unfamiliar with the Georgetown SCS brand. Additionally, they work with partners and vendors to provide various career development capabilities - e.g., resume review, cover-letter development, internships - at scale.
